About the Role
As a Store Planner at the Ackermans Support Centre, you will be instrumental in driving retail sales turnover by ensuring the right merchandise reaches the right stores at the right time. You will oversee location planning, store clustering, replenishment profiling, and high-volume cross-dock inventory distribution.
This role requires a self-motivated inventory specialist who thrives in a fast-paced retail trading environment, possesses high analytical capabilities, and understands the end-to-end supply chain dynamics connecting head office planning to store floor execution.
Key Performance Areas & Primary Responsibilities
Seasonal & Replenishment Stock Allocation

Plan and execute the precise distribution of seasonal merchandise to maximize sales potential across all store grades.

Manage seasonal and non-seasonal replenishment stock profiles to maintain optimal stock cover and shelf availability.

Manage high-replenishment product lines and utilize cross-dock supply chain processes for rapid stock throughput.
Location Planning & Store Clustering

Develop and deliver robust location plans that cluster store networks based on customer demographics, climate, and product performance at required category levels.

Formulate seasonal look inputs to support visual merchandising alignment across retail branches.
Store Performance Analysis & Decision Support

Conduct detailed store performance analyses, evaluating sales turnover, sell-through rates, stock turn, and markdown risks.

Supply accurate, timely reporting metrics to merchandising, buying, and field operational teams to enhance decision-making.
New Store Setups & Branch Support

Coordinate initial stock builds and opening profiles for new store setups to ensure full trading readiness on launch day.

Serve as the central head office liaison for retail store managers to investigate and resolve inventory, allocation, and stock delivery queries promptly.
Minimum Requirements – Ackermans Store Planner
Educational Qualifications

Grade 12 / Matric Certificate (Essential).

National Diploma or BCom Degree in Retail Management, Business Management, Finance, or Accounting (Highly Advantageous).
Work Experience & Technical Competencies

2 to 3 years of solid store planning experience in a clothing retail environment (Essential).

Proven experience working with advanced retail planning tools such as Location Planning, JDA Allocation Planning, or Just Enough (Highly Advantageous).

Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (formulas, lookup tables, pivot tables, data analysis) (Strong Advantage).

Previous experience in store management or operational store supervisory roles (Advantageous).

Exposure to general logistics, supply chain management, and high-replenishment cross-docking distribution models (Advantageous).
