About the Role
As a Maintenance Coordinator at Tiger Brands Pietermaritzburg, you will manage all aspects of plant engineering maintenance to ensure maximum operational efficiency, plant safety, and continuous equipment availability across production lines.
Your primary purpose is to drive planned preventative maintenance (PPM) systems, manage work order workflows using PRAGMA and Oracle, control engineering spares stores, execute Root Cause Analyses (RCA) and Failure Mode, Effects, and Criticality Analyses (FMECA), and lead 5-year CAPEX planning—all within a fast-paced FMCG manufacturing environment.

Key Performance Areas & Primary Outputs
Maintenance Planning, Scheduling & Plant Availability

Maintain and optimize the computerized preventative maintenance system (PRAGMA) for the unit.

Plan, schedule, issue, and sign off on all planned preventative and breakdown maintenance job cards.

Conduct regular plant inspections to identify equipment risks and issue unplanned maintenance schedules.

Oversee planned maintenance days, ensuring high-quality mechanical and electrical work to target 100% plant availability.
Financial, Spares & Engineering Stores Control

Manage engineering spares procurement and component ordering via the Oracle enterprise system within authorized budgets.

Perform monthly stores stock counts, conduct engineering audits, and maintain optimal inventory levels to eliminate line stoppages.

Compile engineering operational reports, monitor maintenance expenditure, and lead 5-year CAPEX budget planning and motivations.
Root Cause Analysis & Compliance Standards

Perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and FMECA on equipment failures to implement permanent corrective and preventative actions.

Enforce statutory, legal, corporate governance, and company health and safety regulations at all times.

Maintain strict compliance with environmental and food safety management systems, specifically ISO 14001 and FSSC 22000 standards.
People Management & Environmental Sustainability

Lead, mentor, and supervise maintenance technicians, artisan teams, and external engineering contractors.

Drive a high-performance culture, address technical competency gaps, and organize daily job allocations and call-out guidance.

Promote environmentally conscious manufacturing practices targeting waste reduction, noise control, utility optimization, and landfill minimization.

Educational Background & Technical Accreditations
