About the Role
As a General Worker at Tiger Brands Maitland, you will carry out frontline manual tasks on the factory floor to ensure daily production targets are hit safely, efficiently, and to exact quality standards.
Your daily tasks will include preparing packaging supplies, monitoring packing machinery, inspecting product seal quality and date codes, stacking pallets, collecting operational waste, and strictly maintaining 5S and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) protocols.

Key Performance Areas & Daily Outputs
Production Execution & Packaging Support

Prepare workstations for daily production runs by organizing packaging supplies, tape guns, pallets, and wrapping materials.

Pack finished products into boxes according to correct quantity standards and ensure box tape seals are intact.

Pack boxes onto pallets using prescribed stacking formats and secure pallets for transit.

Monitor product line quality continuously, verifying the clarity and correctness of date codes on skillets and outer cartons.

Support line operators by monitoring packing machinery and hitting emergency stop buttons if quality issues, infestation, or line jams occur.

Assist during line startups, product changeovers, and shutdown procedures.
Food Safety, Quality & Housekeeping (GMP & 5S)

Maintain a clean, safe, organized workstation and production environment following 5S and Manufacturing Excellence & Continuous Improvement (MECP) guidelines.

Adhere strictly to site Quality, Safety, GMP, and Food Safety governance standards.

Collect and dispose of waste in and around the manufacturing plant promptly.

Escalate operational obstacles, safety risks, material quality defects, and line stoppages immediately to the Line Supervisor.

Support production loss tracking and log operational data when required.
Minimum Requirements – General Worker
Educational Background & Basic Attributes

Grade 12 / Matric Certificate or equivalent qualification (Preferred).

Basic literacy and numeracy skills to verify date codes, check quantities, and record loss data.
Work Experience & Technical Competencies

Previous work experience as a General Worker, Factory Hand, Packer, or Production Assistant in an FMCG, food manufacturing, or packaging plant (Advantageous).

Understanding of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP), Food Safety, 5S, or MECP frameworks (Advantageous).
