About the Role
As a Van Assistant at Tiger Brands, you play a vital frontline role in the daily distribution of FMCG goods from distribution hubs to retail stores and local trade customers across Secunda and surrounding areas.
Your primary purpose is to assist the driver with vehicle offloading, stock verification, customer handovers, trade returns management, basket control, and weekly cash/stock reconciliations—ensuring zero variance while delivering superior customer service.

Key Performance Areas & Daily Responsibilities
Delivery Operations & Route Efficiency

Ensure punctual start-of-day attendance to support scheduled delivery departures.

Assist with the safe loading, offloading, and physical drop-off of products at customer premises.

Work towards meeting target delivery turnaround times and daily sales volume goals.

Handle company delivery vehicles responsibly, taking care to prevent vehicle damage or product breakage during transit.
Stock, Cash & Reconciliation Control

Verify stock quantities during loading and store offloading to eliminate product variances.

Manage customer returns strictly in accordance with company policy and return procedures.

Ensure all payments, cash collected, and delivery documentation are fully accounted for.

Participate in weekly stock and cash reconciliations to ensure accounts balance to zero every Thursday.

Manage and track trade delivery baskets, taking responsibility for signing baskets in and out accurately.
Customer Relations, Hygiene & Compliance

Maintain neat personal grooming and adhere strictly to company dress codes and trade hygiene standards.

Build positive, professional relationships with local store owners, buyers, and trade stockists.

Collect customer feedback from the trade and communicate operational issues back to logistics management.

Adhere strictly to occupational health, safety standards, and road safety regulations.
Minimum Requirements – Van Assistant
Educational Background & Basic Skills

Grade 12 / Matric Certificate or equivalent qualification (Preferred).

Basic numerical and literacy skills for counting stock, checking invoices, and balancing weekly cash reconciliations.
Work Experience & Attributes

Previous experience as a Van Assistant, Delivery Helper, Driver Assistant, or General Worker in an FMCG, retail, or logistics environment (Advantageous).

Strong commitment to punctuality, honesty, and personal responsibility.

Physical capability to handle manual lifting, carrying, offloading crates, and working active delivery routes.
