About the Role
As an Assistant Operator in the Beverages Packaging department at Tiger Brands Roodekop, you will play a vital role in keeping high-speed bottling, canned beverage, and packaging lines running smoothly without disruption.
Your primary focus is to assist machine operators, manage line feeds, monitor automated packaging equipment (bottling, labeling, sealing, carton wrapping, palletizing), conduct regular quality checks, and cover key shift roles during staff relief periods.

Key Performance Areas & Daily Responsibilities
Packaging Machine Operations & Line Support

Assist with the operation and basic monitoring of high-speed beverage packaging machinery (bottling, labeling, sealing, outer packing, and palletizing).

Ensure continuous availability and loading of raw packaging supplies (bottles, cans, closures, labels, sleeves, cartons, and shrink wrap).

Provide flexible operational support across various packaging lines based on daily production demands and relief schedules.

Collaborate closely with line operators and shift supervisors to hit daily throughput and volume targets.
Quality Control, Safety & Housekeeping

Perform routine inline quality inspections to verify seal integrity, code legibility, labeling alignment, and fill volume specifications.

Promptly report mechanical faults, machine jams, quality deviations, or safety hazards to supervisors to minimize downtime.

Maintain strict cleanliness, orderliness, and hygiene across workstations in compliance with Food Safety, Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP), and site safety protocols.

Assist with stock takes and inventory tracking of raw packaging materials as needed.
Minimum Requirements – Assistant Operator
Educational Background & Core Competencies

Grade 12 / Matric Certificate or equivalent high school qualification (Essential).

Basic mechanical aptitude and capability to follow technical Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

Strong numerical capabilities for verifying batch codes, stock counts, and daily line yield.
Experience & Key Personal Attributes

Previous working experience in an FMCG manufacturing, beverage bottling, or packaging plant (Preferred but not mandatory).

High attention to detail with an uncompromising commitment to product quality and workplace safety.

Physical fitness to handle standing for long periods, repetitive manual tasks, and moderate lifting.
