About the Role
As a Casual Frontshop Assistant at Dis-Chem Elarduspark, you will support both shop floor merchandising and point-of-sale customer service operations in alignment with Dis-Chem standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Your daily responsibilities will span shelf restocking, product facing, price label accuracy verification, stock rotation to prevent expiration, customer inquiry resolution, and back-shopping. Additionally, you will handle cashier duties at the checkout—processing payments, managing cash drops, scanning items, and enrolling customers in loyalty programs.
Key Performance Areas & Job Objectives
Merchandising & Stock Management

Ensure full ranges of merchandise are continuously displayed on shelves neatly and accurately labeled.

Rotate shelf stock regularly to eliminate expired or damaged products, and report out-of-stock items to management.

Assist with off-loading deliveries, unpacking stock, organizing the storeroom, flattening boxes, and conducting inventory counts.

Process customer out-of-stock queries promptly according to store guidelines.
Point of Sale (POS) & Cashier Duties

Transact purchases by receiving and processing cash, bank cards, vouchers, coupons, and partner loyalty cards.

Secure daily cash takings inside till drawers and perform cash drops into safe drop boxes as per company SOPs.

Ensure all line voids, price adjustments, and customer returns/exchanges are authorized and signed off by a Frontshop Leader.

Ensure all outgoing products and prescription scripts are scanned and paid for prior to customer departure.
Customer Service & Store Standards

Provide courteous, professional assistance to shoppers on the trading floor and address product queries promptly.

Maintain clean, presentable store displays adhering to Dis-Chem’s visual merchandising and housekeeping standards.

Comply strictly with Dis-Chem’s uniform, personal appearance, and Health and Safety guidelines.
