Key Responsibilities of a Casual Cashier
Point of Sale (POS) & Cashier Operations

Process customer purchases accurately on the Dis-Chem POS operating system using cash, credit/debit cards, vouchers, and coupons.

Process loyalty cards and partner rewards including Discovery Health Care, Medihelp Lifestage, Momentum Multiply, Legacy Lifestyle, ABSA Rewards, and eBucks.

Handle cash floats, perform cash drops into safe drop boxes per standard operating procedures, and maintain zero tolerance for financial inaccuracies.

Ensure all line voids, price adjustments, and customer returns/exchanges are signed off by the Frontline Supervisor.
Customer Service & Store Security

Uphold Dis-Chem’s 5-star communication principles to ensure a professional and welcoming checkout experience.

Maintain complete confidentiality regarding till password codes, daily takings, and internal financial reports.

Stay updated on current store sales, catalogue specials, and promotional events to answer customer inquiries.

Remain alert to suspicious behavior and adhere strictly to Dis-Chem’s security protocols to protect store merchandise.
Minimum Requirements – Casual Cashier
Qualifications & Employment Criteria

Grade 12 / Matric Certificate (Essential).

South African Citizenship with a clear criminal record and clear credit record (Essential).

Reliable transport or residing in close proximity to Nelspruit stores (Essential).

Fluency in a third South African language (Advantageous).
