Purpose of the Job

The Tyre Maintenance Controller is responsible for travelling to multiple operational sites to perform routine tyre inspections, maintenance, breakdown assistance, and fleet tyre surveys.

The role ensures that all fleet vehicles operate safely and efficiently by maintaining correct tyre pressure, tread levels, and compliance with safety standards.


Key Responsibilities of a Tyre Maintenance Controller

Tyre Surveys & Fleet Inspections

  • Travel to various operational sites as required
  • Conduct daily tyre surveys using tyre management systems and manual logs when offline
  • Capture accurate tyre data including:
    • Brand numbers
    • Wheel positions
    • Tyre pressure readings
    • Tread depth measurements
  • Ensure all fleet vehicles are surveyed monthly
  • Identify missing spare wheels and report to supervisor

  • Report damages, accidents, and tool defects immediately
  • Maintain all equipment in working condition

Health, Safety & Compliance

  • Follow all health and safety regulations strictly
  • Use correct PPE at all times
  • Report hazards, near misses, and incidents immediately
  • Ensure compliance with company SOPs, HR policies, and POPIA rules
  • Maintain safe working practices during field operations

Housekeeping & Professional Conduct

  • Keep work areas and vehicles clean and organised

  • Support weekend or emergency work when necessary

Minimum Requirements – Tyre Maintenance Controller

To qualify for this role, applicants must meet the following:

Educational Requirements:

  • Grade 12 / Matric

Experience:

  • 1–2 years’ experience in heavy-duty tyre maintenance or fleet tyre services

License:

  • Valid Code B Driver’s License

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be physically fit and able to lift heavy objects
