About the Role

The Turret Driver at Pedros plays an indispensable role in maintaining supply chain continuity across the company’s regional distribution network. Operating from the Pinetown Distribution Centre, you will be responsible for the high-bay storage, retrieval, and movement of stock to support fast-paced restaurant operations.
This position demands high accuracy, strict adherence to Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) regulations, and careful stock handling using FIFO/FEFO principles. You will work closely with Warehouse Supervisors to ensure picking bays are replenished on time, cycle counts are completed accurately, and food safety standards are maintained across all warehouse operations.
Please note: Applicants must hold a valid, unexpired Turret Truck operator licence/certification and possess physical fitness suitable for shift work in a busy distribution centre environment.

Key Responsibilities of a Turret Driver

Health, Safety & Equipment Maintenance
  • Complete daily pre-operational checklist and safety inspections on turret trucks and warehouse machinery.
  • Operate all material handling equipment in strict compliance with safety rules and SOPs.
  • Wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times in operational areas.
  • Promptly report equipment malfunctions, incidents, near misses, or hazardous conditions.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and hazard-free work area around aisles and racking systems.
Stock Put-Away & Storage Management
  • Safely store received goods in assigned bin locations within high-bay racking systems.
  • Ensure stock put-away is executed accurately and recorded correctly in warehouse systems.
  • Apply First In, First Out (FIFO) and First Expired, First Out (FEFO) stock rotation rules.
  • Verify product codes, batch numbers, and stock quantities during all material movements.
  • Protect goods against damage, loss, or food contamination during transit and storage.
Stock Replenishment & Order Picking
  • Replenish picking bays from reserve storage ahead of scheduled picking runs.
  • Execute system-generated pick lists with high precision and attention to detail.
  • Verify product descriptions, batch numbers, and expiry dates during picking.
  • Meet daily warehouse productivity, picking speed, and accuracy benchmarks.
  • Report stock discrepancies, damaged stock, or shortage issues immediately to management.
Inventory Control & General Warehouse Support
  • Assist warehouse teams with daily cycle counts and formal stocktaking audits.
  • Accurately tally stock quantities and confirm exact bin location coordinates.
  • Comply with food safety protocols, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and hygiene rules.
  • Support overall team goals under the direction of the Warehouse Supervisor, HOD, or DC Manager.
