The primary purpose of the Telemarketer is to contact existing and prospective policyholders to market, upgrade, switch, retain, and convert Scorpion insurance policies. By conducting structured outbound calls, executing product switches, securing payment details (including DebiCheck authorization), and upselling add-on products, the Telemarketer directly contributes to departmental revenue and policy retention targets.

Key Responsibilities

Sales Target Achievement & Campaign Execution

• Work proactively towards achieving individual daily, weekly, and monthly sales conversion targets set by the Team Leader.

• Execute specialized outbound telesales campaigns, including legal and funeral policy upgrades, conversions, payment method changes, and retention drives.

• Cross-sell and upsell approved add-on products to existing Scorpion members.

Compliant Outbound Selling & Client Disclosures

• Utilize approved script guidelines to identify member needs and pitch appropriate legal and funeral insurance packages.

• Clearly explain policy terms, conditions, premiums, exclusions, benefits, and payment structures to prospective clients.

• Capture member data, contact information, and payment details accurately to facilitate seamless DebiCheck and DebiCheck Real-Time collection processes.

• Provide prescribed disclosures and disclaimers on every call to ensure full compliance with regulatory standards.

Quality Control, Compliance & Complaint Prevention

• Adhere strictly to Treating Customers Fairly (TCF) principles, avoiding high-pressure or unethical sales tactics.

• Maintain call quality benchmarks, required typing speed (minimum 35 WPM), and accurate system data entry.

• Handle member queries professionally, taking steps to prevent complaints and immediately escalating complex issues to the Team Leader.

• Participate actively in coaching sessions, performance assessments, and quality assurance reviews.

Minimum Requirements & Qualifications

Educational Baseline & Certifications

• Education: Grade 12 / Matric Certificate or equivalent.

• Call Center Training: Additional formal call center or telesales training is advantageous.

• FAIS Accreditation: FAIS accreditation or relevant RE5 qualification is an advantage.

Work Experience & Technical Competencies

• Telesales Experience: Minimum of 12 months’ telemarketing/telesales experience within a call center environment.
