About the Role
As the Security Manager for Dis-Chem in the Western Cape, you will be responsible for executing regional security strategies, enforcing operational security controls, and driving down store shrink, theft, and operational risk across assigned sites.
You will lead store-level security teams, manage third-party guarding service providers, oversee surveillance systems, and collaborate directly with Regional Security Managers, Loss Prevention, Operations, and Inventory teams. This role requires an observant leader capable of managing high-stress security incidents, conducting internal theft/fraud investigations, and delivering audit-compliant risk management.

Key Responsibilities of a Security Manager
Operational Security Execution & Shrink Reduction

Implement regional security strategies and enforce standardized operational security controls across assigned retail stores and distribution centers.

Actively drive initiatives to reduce store shrink, inventory loss, administrative fraud, and theft.

Oversee the operational readiness, functionality, and maintenance of in-store surveillance tools, CCTV equipment, and electronic access controls.

Ensure a safe, secure trading environment for staff, clients, and shoppers with minimal operational disruption.
Team Leadership & Third-Party Guard Management

Manage the deployment, daily schedules, and performance of store-level security teams, in-store controllers, and third-party security guarding vendors.

Partner with Site Managers, Distribution Center leaders, and Regional Security Managers to resolve site vulnerabilities.

Facilitate training and security awareness initiatives covering fraud prevention, stock control, and incident emergency protocols.
Governance, Audits & Incident Investigation

Monitor, investigate, and document security breaches, stock theft, internal fraud, and acts of violence or property damage.

Perform regular security inspections, physical audits, and policy compliance reviews across assigned sites.

Maintain complete documentation of investigations and escalate high-risk incidents promptly to regional leadership.
Minimum Requirements – Security Manager
Educational Background & Work Experience

Diploma or Certification in Security Management, Risk Management, or a related field; OR a minimum of 5 years of proven experience in retail security, loss prevention, or operational risk roles (Essential).

Demonstrated experience managing security personnel and store-level security operations (Essential).

Prior experience in retail, Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG), or multi-site operational environments (Highly Preferred).
