The VKB Group operates across the entire agricultural value chain, providing essential equipment, machinery repairs, logistics, and retail support to South African farming communities. The Mechanization division in Frankfort serves as an active repair hub for tractors, harvesters, and specialized farm implements.

As a General Worker in the Mechanization Workshop, you will provide vital operational and technical support to trade mechanics and workshop technicians. Your daily duties will include assisting with tractor maintenance tasks, handling heavy equipment and machinery components, managing workshop tools, loading and offloading parts deliveries, and ensuring the premises adhere to strict safety and cleanliness standards.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Assistance & Workshop Support

• Assist workshop mechanics and agricultural technicians with day-to-day repair, assembly, and maintenance operations.

• Hand tools, spare parts, equipment, and materials to mechanics during engine and machinery overhauls.

• Carry out basic workshop-related duties as assigned by senior mechanics or workshop supervisors.

• Safely operate basic workshop machinery and cleaning equipment under supervision.

Stock Handling, Loading & Customer Service

• Assist customers, farmers, and delivery suppliers with the safe loading and offloading of stock and machinery parts according to company SOPs.

• Support stock control processes, item counting, and orderly storage within the workshop and spares depot.

• Deliver polite, helpful, and professional service to visiting clients and farmers at all times.

Workshop Housekeeping & Facilities Maintenance

• Maintain overall tidiness, cleanliness, and hygienic conditions across all workshop bays, storage areas, and building premises.

• Perform regular cleaning duties, including sweeping floors, wiping oil spills, clearing biohazard waste, and flattening delivery packaging.

• Ensure all hand tools, heavy jacks, and workshop machinery are returned to designated storage racks after use.

• Execute ad-hoc manual tasks and operational duties assigned by management to add continuous value to workshop workflow.

Minimum Requirements

Educational Qualifications & Driver’s License

• Grade 12 / Matric Certificate or NQF4 Qualification — mandatory baseline requirement

Experience & Physical Capabilities

• Physical ability to perform strenuous manual labor, including lifting and moving heavy equipment or machinery components.
