About the Role

The General Assistant position at TsAfrika Catering Solutions is a vital operational post responsible for supporting daily food service and kitchen sanitation workflows within a corporate dining setting. Operating at a corporate client venue in Kuilsriver, Western Cape, the successful candidate will work alongside chefs and service teams to maintain high standards of food safety, dining presentation, and customer service.

This position is ideal for an energetic individual holding a Grade 12 certificate, basic knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices, and the capability to thrive in a fast-paced kitchen and dining hall environment.

Important Operational Requirements: Candidates must possess a Grade 12 or equivalent qualification. Previous experience in a catering, hospitality, corporate dining, or food service environment will be highly advantageous. Basic understanding of food safety, hygiene regulations, and team communication is required.

Food Service & Dining Counter Setup

• Assist kitchen staff with basic food preparation, plating, and serving meals to corporate clients.

• Set up, replenish, and maintain food counters, beverage stations, and service areas during meal periods.

• Provide friendly, polite, and professional customer service to all site visitors and corporate staff.

• Support special catering functions, business meetings, and executive events as directed.

Kitchen Sanitation & Cleaning

• Maintain clean, hygienic condition across kitchen prep stations, dining spaces, serving counters, and equipment.

• Wash dishes, pots, pans, service utensils, and kitchen machinery promptly and safely.

• Adhere strictly to Tsebo food safety protocols, hygiene rules, and corporate health and safety guidelines.

Stock Control & Material Handling

• Receive, unpack, inspect, and store food stock and catering supplies following company procedures.

• Manage stock rotation principles to keep ingredients fresh and actively minimize food wastage.

• Report low stock levels, broken utensils, or maintenance needs to kitchen supervisors timeously.

Educational Qualifications

• Grade 12 / Matric or equivalent qualification.

Experience & Sector Knowledge

• Previous experience in a catering, hospitality, corporate dining, or food service environment is highly advantageous.

• Basic practical knowledge of food safety standards and kitchen hygiene regulations.
