Rather than focusing solely on franchise sales, this position centers on constructing a sustainable pipeline of entrepreneurs and managing the full end-to-end franchisee experience. From initial enquiry and rigorous financial vetting to commercial agreement negotiations and cross-departmental handover, the Franchising Manager ensures each new store opening aligns with corporate governance and long-term profitability goals.

Important Operational Requirements: Candidates must be willing and able to undertake national travel as required. A relevant tertiary qualification in Business, Commerce, Marketing, Finance, Property, or Entrepreneurship alongside 5 to 8 years of specialized experience in franchising or multi-site retail growth is strictly required.

Pipeline Management & Sourcing

  • Build and manage a pipeline of prospective franchisees through proactive sourcing, candidate referrals, targeted marketing campaigns, and franchise networks.

  • Identify new store expansion opportunities with existing, high-performing franchise owners to encourage multi-unit growth.

  • Maintain complete pipeline transparency, commercial tracking, and structured reporting across all prospective franchisee applications.

Candidate Evaluation & Qualification

  • Assess and qualify prospective franchise applicants by conducting rigorous evaluations of their financial capacity and investment readiness.

  • Evaluate candidates’ previous business experience, operational suitability, leadership capabilities, and alignment with corporate culture.

  • Conduct formal commercial presentations to pitch franchise opportunities to approved, high-potential applicants.

Onboarding & Legal Execution

  • Guide approved franchise candidates through the formal application, board approval, and legal franchise agreement processes.

  • Negotiate commercial terms while strictly enforcing compliance with brand governance, franchise disclosure documents, and legal frameworks.

  • Oversee the end-to-end prospective candidate journey from initial enquiry through to final legal signature and handoff.

Stakeholder & Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner seamlessly with internal Real Estate, Development, Legal, Finance, Training, and Operations departments to ensure smooth store handovers.

  • Coordinate with site development teams to align candidate onboarding schedules with property handover timelines.

  • Foster strong ongoing commercial relationships with franchisees to maintain network harmony and operational excellence.

Governance & Continuous Improvement

  • Enforce strict compliance standards and governance frameworks throughout the franchisee recruitment and selection cycle.

  • Refine candidate assessment models continuously to improve franchisee retention, operational capability, and store profitability.

  • Analyze market trends and competitor activity within the Quick Service Restaurant (QSR) sector to optimize growth strategies.

Educational Qualifications

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Business, Commerce, Marketing, Finance, Property, Entrepreneurship, or a closely related field.

Experience

  • Minimum of 5 to 8 years of experience in franchising, franchise development, business development, or multi-site retail growth.

  • Proven track record of recruiting, vetting, commercially assessing, and onboarding franchisees within a fast-paced retail or QSR environment.

Technical Skills

  • Advanced knowledge of financial modeling, commercial investment principles, and franchise balance sheet evaluations.

  • Proficiency in pipeline tracking software, CRM platforms, and corporate presentation tools.

Knowledge Requirements

  • Comprehensive understanding of franchise business models, statutory franchise agreements, commercial property site selection, and financial assessment principles.

Skills & Competencies

  • Exceptional commercial acumen, negotiation abilities, presentation skills, and executive stakeholder management capabilities.

  • Strong organizational skills with the proven capacity to manage multiple prospective candidates and site opportunities simultaneously.

Personal Attributes

  • Commercially driven, solutions-focused mindset with a deep passion for connecting entrepreneurs with viable business ventures.

  • High emotional intelligence and influencing skills to assess franchisee capability and long-term leadership potential.

Legal & Mobility Requirements

  • Willingness and flexibility to execute national travel as required to meet prospective partners and review operational sites.
