Frequently Asked Questions – Plumbing Facilitator TVET Jobs

What is a Z83 form and where do I get one? The Z83 is the official South African Public Service employment application form — required for all government and public entity job applications effective from 1 January 2021. It can be obtained from any government department, the Maluti TVET College Corporate Office, or downloaded from the official Maluti TVET College website at www.malutitvet.co.za. The Z83 must be signed, initialled, and dated, with all fields in Sections A, B, C, and D completed in full. Section F (conditions preventing re-appointment) must be answered. Do not attach qualification copies — submit the Z83 and CV only at application stage.

What is SACE registration and why is it required? The South African Council for Educators (SACE) is the statutory body that registers all educators in South African schools, colleges, and training institutions. SACE registration is a legal requirement for anyone employed as a facilitator or lecturer at a TVET college — confirming that the educator meets the professional and ethical standards required for teaching in South Africa. A valid, current SACE registration certificate must be held at the time of appointment. Plumbers seeking to enter the TVET teaching sector who do not yet have SACE registration should apply for it through www.sace.org.za before applying for this post.

What is ICASS and how does a TVET plumbing facilitator administer it? ICASS (Internal Continuous Assessment) is the structured continuous assessment component of TVET programmes — comprising subject tasks, assignments, practical assessments, and tests conducted throughout the academic year. The Facilitator sets, administers, marks, and moderates ICASS tasks in accordance with the College’s assessment schedule and DHET requirements — capturing and verifying marks at each assessment point to build the student’s continuous assessment record, which contributes a defined percentage toward the final subject result.

What is the difference between a POA and a POE in TVET? A POA (Portfolio of Assessment) is the facilitator’s organised record of all assessment tasks, marking instruments, moderation evidence, and student results for a subject — the facilitator’s side of the assessment record. A POE (Portfolio of Evidence) is the student’s compiled collection of their own work, assessments, and practical evidence — the learner’s side of the record. Both must be compiled, maintained, and submitted in accordance with the College’s academic calendar and quality assurance requirements.

What does the 60-day feedback notice mean for this post? The application notes state that if you are not contacted within 60 days of the closing date (17 April 2026), your application should be considered unsuccessful. The 60-day window is significantly longer than most other posts in this session (most use 2 weeks) — reflecting the TVET College’s structured shortlisting, pre-entry assessment, and suitability check process.
