About the Role
As a Customer Consultant at Dis-Chem Cavendish Square in Claremont, you will act as the central operational hub for customer service, loyalty programs, and client feedback.
You will assist shoppers with inquiries, manage loyalty card balances and statements, process administrative documentation through Dis-Chem systems (TRMS), and handle in-store promotional inventory like baby bags, travel kits, and partner giveaway materials. Additionally, you will coordinate in-store promotional events, deliver benefits program training to floor staff, and ensure strict compliance with Dis-Chem standard operating procedures (SOPs).

Key Responsibilities of a Customer Consultant
Customer Service & Help Desk Operations

Serve as the central point of contact for all in-store customer inquiries, complaints, and compliments.

Handle customer queries in person, via telephone, or through email platforms using professional communication standards.

Escalate severe complaints, product sourcing requests, and positive feedback to Senior or Regional Customer Consultants daily.

Maintain the customer service diary to track and document query resolution processes.
Loyalty Benefits Administration & Data Capturing

Recruit and capture new customers into the Dis-Chem Benefits Programme accurately.

Assist customers with checking card balances, statement activity, and point checkpoint reversals.

Capture and manage transaction data accurately using TRMS reporting protocols.

Report manual points allocations to the Administration Manager on a daily basis.
Promotional Inventory & Event Coordination

Manage weekly stock inventory of loyalty promotional items, application forms, magazines, baby bags, travel kits, and partner gifts.

Coordinate and execute in-store events, brand activations, and promotional campaigns.

Ensure clear visibility of Benefits Programme signage at help desks and point-of-sale till points.

Train internal store staff across departments on benefit program features and execution.
Minimum Requirements – Customer Consultant
Educational Background & Experience

Grade 12 / Matric with at least 60% in English, Afrikaans, and Mathematical Literacy (Essential).

Minimum of 1 year of experience in administration, public relations, or customer relations (Essential).

High proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and computer literacy (Essential).

Formal qualification in Administration, Customer Service, or Public Relations (Advantageous).

Practical experience using SAP software systems (Advantageous).

Knowledge of the Consumer Protection Act (CPA) and Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) (Advantageous).
