As a Casual Frontshop Assistant at the Elarduspark branch in Pretoria, you will be the face of the shop floor — ensuring that customers enter a welcoming, impeccably organized, and fully stocked shopping environment.

Key Responsibilities

Merchandising & Stock Control

• Restock merchandise appropriately on the retail floor whenever needed to ensure maximum product visibility and drive daily sales.

• Store and pack delivered stock or items pulled from the storeroom into their correct designated spaces immediately to keep the floor clear.

• Maintain stock on shelves to ensure no products reach their sell-by dates, strictly applying the First-In, First-Out (FIFO) principle.

• Ensure full ranges of products are beautifully displayed on the shop floor at all times, facilitating regular stock rotation.

• Keep the storeroom organized, neat, and tidy, maintaining accurate physical upkeep of your assigned stock sections.

• Report low stock levels, out-of-stock items, damaged goods, and expired products immediately to the store management team.

Floor Maintenance & Display Upkeep

• Build, face up, and maintain striking promotional merchandising displays according to approved corporate layout procedures.

• Uphold corporate merchandising policies and adhere strictly to store layouts, planograms, and general operating standards.

• Ensure labels and pricing are correct at all times, making sure front-shop shelves and products are neatly presented and visible.

• Identify and report all price discrepancies or items missing barcodes directly to management for immediate resolution.

• Flatten boxes immediately after unpacking inventory, moving them to the designated area, and ensuring they are checked by security guards.

Customer Service & Team Collaboration

• Provide friendly, helpful, and courteous assistance and professional advice to all customers visiting the Elarduspark branch.

• Follow up on customer stock queries and out-of-stock questions, ensuring issues are resolved within a reasonable timeframe.

• Wear the correct uniform and name badge at all times, adhering to the company’s professional personal appearance policy.

• Assist with the training of new and current team members by sharing daily operational best practices and floor knowledge.

• Maintain up-to-date product knowledge and stay aware of new arrivals to confidently assist shoppers with purchasing decisions.

Health, Safety & Loss Prevention

• Handle all store merchandise carefully to prevent breakage, waste, or financial losses for the business unit.

• Report bad or suspicious behavior from both staff and customers immediately to store management to maintain a secure environment.

• Adhere strictly to Health and Safety rules, regulations, and corporate Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

• Maintain pristine housekeeping standards, ensuring your workstation, aisles, and counters are continuously clean and tidy.

• Assist with general cycle counts and bi-annual stocktaking procedures to ensure accurate inventory data.

Minimum Requirements

Educational Qualifications

• Grade 12 / Matric certificate or equivalent secondary qualification.

Experience

• 0 to 6 months of basic experience working within a retail, supermarket, or customer service environment.

• 1 year of work experience within a fast-paced retail or FMCG environment is highly advantageous.

Technical Skills & System Knowledge

• Sound understanding of document use, basic numerical skills, and written communication.

• Prior exposure to working with planograms and retail category management is beneficial.

Language & Communication

• Excellent command of the English language (read, write, speak, and understand).
