About the Role
The Casual Cashier serves as a frontline brand ambassador at Dis-Chem Irene Village, processing customer purchases quickly and accurately. You will adhere to strict Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) regarding till float management, drop safe deposits, supervisor authorizations for voids or price adjustments, and fraud prevention protocols.
This role requires a trustworthy, presentable, and detail-oriented candidate with a Matric certificate, numerical aptitude, cashier experience, and flexible availability to work retail shifts including weekends and public holidays.

Point-of-Sale & Payment Operations

Manage till cash drawer balances securely, performing scheduled drops into drop safes following Dis-Chem cash handling SOPs.

Ensure all line voids, price changes, and merchandise exchanges are signed off by the Frontline Supervisor or Store Manager.

Maintain complete password security, ensuring individual system codes are kept confidential and changed regularly.
Customer Service & Store Security

Answer store merchandise queries and report customer feedback to frontline management.

Remain alert to shoplifting risks, suspicious behavior, or payment fraud, escalating concerns to store management immediately.

Ensure every outgoing prescription script, retail product, and promotional item is scanned and fully paid for prior to customer departure.
Educational Qualifications

Grade 12 / Matric Certificate.
Work Experience & Technical Exposure

Minimum 6 months’ cashier or till operations experience in a retail store environment.
