About the Role

The Assistant General Worker plays a vital site support role within Fraser Alexander’s civil and infrastructure operations in North West. Working alongside on-site teams, you will perform routine site inspections, report hazards, maintain clean and safe work areas, and execute assigned tasks in strict compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and civil safety standards.

This position demands a motivated, safety-conscious individual with a Grade 12 certificate, physical and medical fitness, and a strong commitment to teamwork and operational excellence.

Important Site Requirements: Candidates must possess a Grade 12 (Senior Certificate) and a minimum of 1 year of relevant operational experience. Applicants must pass client/company criminal screening, be medically fit for site work, and be prepared to work rotating shifts and overtime as required.

Operational Site Support & Tasks

• Collaborate daily with site supervisors and construction teams to support operational goals, project targets, and civil infrastructure tasks.

• Perform routine daily inspections across designated areas of responsibility, identifying and reporting hazards, equipment deviations, or risks immediately.

• Assist with operational problem-solving and escalate site deviations to supervisors timeously.

• Execute all assigned general site activities and manual operational tasks as directed by management.

Housekeeping, Safety & SOP Compliance

• Perform basic housekeeping duties in work areas, site yards, and around machinery to uphold a safe, clean, and organized environment.

• Execute every assigned task in strict accordance with company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and task instructions.

• Comply fully with all safety rules, site regulations, and company safety procedures to promote a zero-harm workplace.

Educational Qualifications

• Grade 12 (Matric / Senior Certificate).

Work Experience & Technical Exposure

• Minimum 1 year of relevant experience in general worker, site assistant, civil construction, building, or mining operations.

General & Physical Requirements

• Must clear company and/or client criminal screening processes.

• Must be physically, mentally, and medically fit to undertake general labor duties on active operational sites.

• Willingness and availability to work rotating shifts and overtime when operational needs require.
