About the Role
As an Admin Clerk / Receptionist for Lancet Laboratories in Richards Bay, you will serve as the primary operational link between patients, healthcare professionals, hospital wards, and processing laboratories.
You will manage the reception desk, register incoming diagnostic samples on the Laboratory Information System (LIS), sort and dispatch specimens to maintain strict turnaround times, and resolve pre-analytical process bottlenecks. Additionally, you will perform hospital rounds to deliver reports and collect samples, track courier deliveries, scan patient documents using the Oculus system, and handle financial cash receipts and daily banking.

Key Performance Areas & Responsibilities
Specimen Logging & Pre-Analytical Processing

Administer the receiving, sorting, and prioritized distribution of medical specimens according to set SOPs.

Register (“log”) incoming patient samples and address pre-analytical queries on the Laboratory Information System.

Track courier sample deliveries to ensure specimens reach designated processing labs without delay.

Investigate and resolve pre-analytical bottlenecks to uphold strict diagnostic turnaround times.
Frontline Reception & Patient Customer Care

Welcome patients and clients, provide clear information, and direct them to appropriate departments.

Manage nervous or distressed patients with empathy, patience, and high emotional intelligence.

Capture patient data, prepare and scan request forms into the Oculus system, and resolve scanning incompletes.

Receive cash payments from patients and manage daily banking in accordance with financial protocols.
Hospital Rounds & Stock Management

Perform scheduled hospital rounds to deliver lab reports to doctors and collect submitted specimens from wards.

Monitor branch stock levels, order additional laboratory materials, and ensure timely stock delivery to doctors’ rooms.

Maintain clean, orderly workstations and sanitize equipment according to health and safety SOPs.

Minimum Requirements – Admin Clerk / Receptionist
Educational Background & Qualifications
