About the Role
As a Courier Driver for Lancet Laboratories in George, you will play a critical role in the pre-analytical pathology chain by ensuring that diagnostic specimens, patient reports, and medical stock are collected and delivered safely and timeously.
You will plan daily collection routes, interact directly with supporting doctors and hospital staff, record delivery proof, and scan all specimens into Lancet’s Courier Management Programme for real-time tracking. Additionally, you will maintain company vehicles, handle hazardous spills safely according to Health and Safety standards, and uphold Lancet’s reputation through professional customer service.
Safety & Quality Standards: Lancet Laboratories enforces strict Health and Safety policies. Couriers are required to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when handling biological samples and adhere strictly to hazardous material safety protocols.
Key Performance Areas & Responsibilities
Specimen Collection & Route Planning

Review moxes, delivery lists, and task logs to plan efficient daily collection and shuttle routes.

Conduct safe, timeous collections and deliveries of medical specimens, test reports, and equipment to and from outlying laboratories, clinics, and doctors’ rooms.

Scan specimens and laboratory results into the Courier Management Programme to maintain end-to-end tracking and traceability.

Obtain signed proof of delivery and collection logs for accurate record-keeping and audit trails.
Vehicle Maintenance & Asset Management

Responsible for the daily care, maintenance, cleanliness, and fault reporting of company assets, including vehicles, petrol cards, and uniforms.

Complete incident or accident reports immediately and submit them to management to ensure prompt insurance processing and repairs.

Maintain clean, hygienic vehicle interiors, reporting any hazardous material or chemical spills immediately to management in accordance with Quality Assurance Standards.
Health, Safety & Customer Service

Utilize required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as specimen bags, gloves, and eye protection to comply with Health and Safety regulations.

Serve as a brand ambassador by delivering courteous, patient, and professional customer service to medical staff and clients.
Minimum Requirements – Courier Driver
Educational Background & Licenses

Grade 12 / Matric qualification or relevant NQF Level 4 qualification (N3) (Essential).

Valid South African Driver’s License (Essential).

Professional Driving Permit (PDP) (Highly Advantageous).
Work Experience & Knowledge

2 to 3 years of relevant working experience as a courier, delivery driver, or shuttle driver (Essential).
