The primary purpose of the Lodge Manager is to maintain complete oversight of the guest experience while serving as the operational link across all departments, including Food & Beverage, Housekeeping, Guiding, Maintenance, and Front Office. By maintaining a visible hosting presence, enforcing company SOPs, managing departmental expenditure, and coaching lodge personnel, the Lodge Manager ensures an authentic, seamless, and memorable stay for every guest.

Key Responsibilities

Guest Experience & Operational Leadership

• Serve as a visible, hands-on host, meeting and engaging with guests daily to deliver personalized 5-star service.

• Act as the main operational contact for VIPs, media visits, travel agents, and high-profile international clients.

• Assume full responsibility for all lodge operations in the absence of the General Manager.

• Synchronize workflows across Food & Beverage, Housekeeping, Guiding, Front Office, and Maintenance to guarantee seamless guest service delivery.

Staff Mentorship & Human Resources Management

• Lead, mentor, and motivate the guest services team, establishing clear performance metrics and development goals.

• Conduct regular performance appraisals, providing continuous feedback and facilitating structured personal development plans.

• Implement company HR policies regarding duty rosters, leave planning, overtime control, and disciplinary standards.

• Promote a collaborative, inclusive culture aligned with the spirit of Ubuntu across all lodge units.

Financial Controls, Compliance & Reporting

• Manage daily operational expenditure, stock level controls, ordering schedules, and monthly inventory audits.

• Ensure full compliance with health, safety, fire, and HACCP hygiene regulations across all lodge facilities.

• Oversee site adherence to company sustainability benchmarks regarding energy efficiency, water usage, and waste reduction.

• Prepare clear operational, guest feedback, and financial performance reports for the General Manager and Support Office.

Minimum Requirements & Qualifications

Work Experience & Technical Competencies

• Lodge Experience: Minimum 3 to 5 years of experience in a senior lodge management or guest services management role within a 5-star safari lodge or boutique hotel environment.

• Property Systems: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and experienced in Property Management Systems (PMS).
