About the Role
MORE Collection’s Support Office Marketing team in Johannesburg is the strategic and creative hub behind some of the most compelling hospitality content produced in southern Africa. As Social Media Specialist, you will take ownership of the daily coordination and execution of social media activity across the MORE Collection portfolio — managing multiple brand channels simultaneously, maintaining content calendars, briefing the content team, engaging with online communities, and ensuring that every platform consistently reflects the quality, warmth, and visual excellence that defines the MORE Collection brand.
This is a role for someone who is equally comfortable in the operational detail and the creative space — someone who can build and manage a monthly content calendar with precision, write compelling copy that captures the voice of a luxury hospitality brand, and respond to a guest message in the same breath. The successful candidate will be proactive and solutions-oriented, comfortable owning their channels independently, and skilled at navigating the nuances of multiple brand identities within a single portfolio.
Experience within the hospitality, travel, luxury, or lifestyle sector is a meaningful advantage in this role. MORE Collection’s properties speak to a sophisticated, experience-driven audience, and candidates who already understand that world — its visual language, its community expectations, and its content rhythms — will hit the ground running. A minimum of three years of hands-on social media management experience, including multi-brand or multi-account coordination, is a firm requirement.
Key Responsibilities
Social Media Management & Publishing
- Manage the day-to-day operations of social media channels across the MORE Collection portfolio, maintaining consistency, quality, and brand alignment at all times.
- Schedule and publish content across Instagram, Facebook, and other relevant platforms in accordance with content calendars and campaign timelines.
- Ensure all published content aligns with brand guidelines, campaign objectives, and channel-specific best practices for each property and platform.

Content Planning & Calendar Management
- Develop and maintain monthly content calendars across multiple brands, ensuring content is planned, coordinated, and delivered on time without exception.
- Brief content requirements to the content team, ensuring all creative assets are produced according to agreed content plans and deadlines.
- Coordinate with property teams and internal stakeholders to source content, gather campaign information, and ensure upcoming initiatives are supported with the right creative material.
- Identify content opportunities aligned with marketing priorities, seasonal moments, and broader business objectives across the portfolio.
- Make recommendations to improve content performance, audience growth, and community engagement as part of the calendar development process.
Community Management & Engagement
- Take full ownership of daily community engagement across all social platforms, responding to comments, direct messages, tags, mentions, and other forms of community interaction in a timely and professional manner.
- Maintain the brand tone, voice, and standards of MORE Collection in every community interaction, reflecting the warmth and sophistication of a luxury hospitality brand.
- Escalate guest service issues and reputation-sensitive matters to the Social Media Manager or relevant property teams where necessary.
- Foster meaningful, authentic engagement with audiences that builds community loyalty and reinforces the MORE Collection brand relationship.
Content Creation & Asset Development
- Create social media assets using Canva and other design tools where required, adapting existing creative for different platforms and formats.
- Assist with the development of social-first content concepts and ideas that align with platform behaviour and audience expectations.
- Support campaign execution through creative recommendations and platform-specific content requirements.
- Source user-generated content (UGC) from guests across the portfolio, obtaining the necessary permissions and integrating approved UGC into social media channels effectively.
Brand Stewardship & Platform Optimisation
- Stay informed on platform updates, algorithm changes, trends, and best practices relevant to the luxury hospitality and lifestyle sector.
- Proactively identify opportunities to strengthen channel performance and user experience across all MORE Collection social platforms.
- Ensure all channel elements — including bios, highlights, pinned content, and linked assets — remain current, accurate, and aligned with brand priorities at all times.
- Support the broader marketing team’s strategic objectives by ensuring social media channels serve as effective brand and commercial touchpoints for the portfolio.

Core Values
Creative Excellence
MORE Collection’s social media channels are the brand’s most visible daily touchpoint with a discerning, experience-hungry audience. The Social Media Specialist is responsible for ensuring that every piece of content — from a published post to a DM response — reflects the visual quality, storytelling depth, and brand warmth that the MORE Collection name represents. Creative excellence in this role is not aspirational; it is the baseline from which every decision is made, and the standard to which every asset, calendar, and community interaction is held.
Proactive Ownership
The best social media specialists do not wait for direction — they anticipate needs, identify opportunities, and act. MORE Collection is looking for someone who treats their channels as their own, who flags performance issues before they become problems, who briefs the content team with precision, and who consistently finds ways to make the portfolio’s social presence sharper, more engaging, and more aligned with the brand’s commercial and creative objectives. Ownership is the mindset; proactivity is the method.
Brand Integrity
Managing multiple luxury hospitality brands simultaneously demands an acute sensitivity to the distinct voice, visual identity, and audience expectations of each property within the MORE Collection portfolio. The Social Media Specialist must hold the line on brand standards across every channel, every caption, every community interaction — ensuring that the quality and consistency guests experience at the property itself is fully reflected in the digital spaces that surround it. Brand integrity is not a constraint on creativity; it is the framework within which the best creative work happens.
Collaborative Spirit
No social media channel exists in isolation, and no Social Media Specialist at MORE Collection operates alone. This role depends on close, productive relationships with the Social Media Manager, the content team, property managers, and the broader marketing team. A genuine willingness to share information, incorporate diverse inputs, manage competing stakeholder needs with professionalism, and celebrate shared creative wins is what makes the difference between a social media function that operates efficiently and one that truly excels.
Curiosity & Adaptability
The social media landscape shifts constantly — platforms evolve, algorithms change, audience behaviours transform, and new content formats emerge that redefine what works. MORE Collection expects its Social Media Specialist to be genuinely curious about these shifts, to experiment thoughtfully, and to bring fresh ideas to the content calendar and community strategy on an ongoing basis. Candidates who treat continuous learning as a professional responsibility — and who find the evolving nature of social media energising rather than disorienting — will thrive in this environment.
Career Growth Opportunities
MORE Collection offers passionate and high-performing social media professionals a clear pathway to grow within the hospitality marketing space. With demonstrated expertise, creative leadership, and a proven track record of elevating brand channels, you can progress through the following stages:
- Social Media Specialist → Senior Social Media Specialist
- Senior Social Media Specialist → Social Media Manager
- Social Media Manager → Digital Marketing Manager
- Digital Marketing Manager → Head of Marketing & Communications
Your career path is in your hands.
Frequently Asked Questions
What salary does MORE Collection offer for the Social Media Specialist position? The salary for this position is market related and will be discussed and confirmed during the interview and offer process. MORE Collection benchmarks remuneration competitively within the South African hospitality and marketing sector, and the final package will reflect your level of social media experience, multi-brand management capability, and any specialist hospitality or luxury brand expertise you bring. You are encouraged to discuss your salary expectations openly during the selection process.
Is experience in hospitality or luxury brands essential, or will other sectors be considered? Experience within hospitality, travel, luxury, or lifestyle brands is listed as a significant advantage rather than a hard minimum requirement. Candidates from other sectors who can demonstrate strong multi-brand social media management experience, a sophisticated understanding of premium brand positioning, and a genuine passion for the hospitality and travel space will be considered. However, given the nature of MORE Collection’s portfolio and its audience, candidates who already speak the language of luxury hospitality — visually and in writing — will be considerably more competitive in the selection process.
How many brands will I be managing simultaneously in this role? This role covers the full MORE Collection portfolio of properties, which means you will be managing multiple brand channels across Instagram, Facebook, and other relevant platforms at any given time. The ability to maintain distinct brand voices, manage separate content calendars, and coordinate with multiple property teams simultaneously is therefore a core functional requirement, not a peripheral skill. If you have not previously managed three or more brand accounts in parallel, this role may present a significant step up in complexity.
What does the day-to-day look like in terms of content creation versus planning and management? This role is primarily a planning, coordination, and management position — the Social Media Specialist’s core output is a well-run multi-brand social media operation rather than a volume of original creative work. Day-to-day activities include maintaining and updating content calendars, briefing the content team, scheduling and publishing posts, managing community engagement across all channels, coordinating with property teams for content sourcing, and monitoring platform performance. Content creation using Canva and other tools is part of the role, but in support of a broader creative strategy led by the Social Media Manager rather than as the primary output.
What is the closing date, and how should I apply? The closing date for applications is 02 August 2026. Applications should be submitted through the channel on which this vacancy is advertised, with a current CV and any supporting portfolio or examples of social media work you have managed. Given the volume of applications typically received for marketing roles within the hospitality sector, early submission is strongly recommended. Should you not receive a response within a reasonable period following the closing date, please consider your application unsuccessful.
Will I be working on-site in Johannesburg full-time, or is remote or hybrid work an option? This position is based at the MORE Collection Support Office in Johannesburg, Gauteng. The nature of the role — which involves close daily coordination with the Social Media Manager, content team, and internal stakeholders — lends itself to an office-based working environment. Any flexibility around remote or hybrid arrangements would be at the discretion of MORE Collection and would be discussed during the interview process. Candidates must be based in or willing to relocate to Johannesburg.
