About the Role
Dis-Chem Pharmacies has built its reputation on exceptional clinical service, accessible healthcare, and professional advice that genuinely helps communities manage their wellness. In the Dispensary Department at the Garden Route Mall branch in George, the Pharmacist Assistant Post Basic is a vital front-line healthcare provider — the practitioner patients and pharmacists rely on to accurately interpret, prepare, and manage scheduled substances safely under direct supervision.
This is not a passive retail role. It requires someone who actively manages patient scripts, monitors medical aid claims, navigates complex drug interactions, and ensures the highest ethical standards of medicine safety on the floor. Beyond direct dispensing duties, you will oversee stock control utilizing specialized methodologies, process chronic disease approvals, rectify electronic claim rejections, and educate the public on health promotion — making this a comprehensive and clinical retail operations role.
The ideal candidate brings a completed Post Basic Pharmacist Assistant qualification, active professional registration, strong numerical capabilities, and deep platform experience with electronic scripting systems. Dis-Chem invests heavily in the regulatory compliance and continuing professional development of its pharmacy teams, and the successful candidate will reflect that standard in every single script processed.
Please note: Candidates must maintain an active registration with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC) as a non-negotiable legal requirement to practice within this facility.
Candidates must possess a valid driver’s license and have a completely clear credit and criminal record, which will be verified during pre-employment screening. The role requires physical fitness and the ability to stand for long periods within a secure, temperature-controlled dispensary environment.
