The Food For Mzansi family is growing, and we’re now recruiting a suitably qualified commercial journalist in our business development department. We love South Africa. We don’t do drama or corporate hogwash. We don’t fuss about stuff, although we do believe that attention to detail is key when it comes to business. You should also know that we love winning. We’re looking for a colleague to:
Research and write native content/digitorials on a variety of topics in the agriculture and food value chains.
Liaise with clients to ensure all native content/digitorials meet the brief, are approved, and signed off.
Source topics, research and write at least two regular features spotlighting, respectively, agripreneurs and people in interesting careers in the agriculture sector.
Compile and copywrite weekly newsletters including Food For Mzansi’s flagship Farmer’s Inside Track newsletter.
Contribute interviews and human-interest features to the Food For Mzansi news desk.
Effectively manage stakeholder relationships.
And be an all-rounder who can immerse themselves in the Food For Mzansi brand and mission.
To flourish, you’ll need a wide range of creative capabilities, including:
An interest in the agricultural sector and a love for Mzansi;
The ability to think creatively and translate ideas into great copy, audio, video and social media;
Experience in writing strong, succinct copy that is grammatically correct;
A flexible approach and willingness to adapt ideas to the needs of stakeholders;
Great organisational skills and an eye for detail;
Strong research and interviewing skills;
A valid driver’s license and willingness to travel nationwide for stories;
The willingness to be mentored, developed and challenged; and
Live within travel distance from Paarl, Western Cape or be willing to relocate.
