Frequently Asked Questions – EPWP Training Coordinator Jobs

What is the EPWP and what types of training does it fund? The Expanded Public Works Programme is a government-wide programme providing work opportunities and training to unemployed South Africans in infrastructure, environment, social, and non-state sectors. EPWP training includes structured learnership and skills programmes, site supervision training, the EPWP Learning Programme (workplace-based learning), ABET/literacy programmes, health and safety training, and sector-specific vocational skills — all aimed at improving the long-term employability of EPWP participants beyond their immediate work opportunity.

What is the EPWP Reporting System and what data does the coordinator capture? The EPWP Reporting System is the DPWI’s national data management platform for tracking all EPWP work opportunities, participant details, training interventions, and expenditure. The Training Coordinator captures training attendance, learner details, programme completion, and Portfolios of Evidence data — providing the reporting data that DPWI uses for national EPWP performance tracking, annual reporting to Parliament, and compliance with EPWP targets.

What is the EPWP Approval Training Committee? The EPWP Training Approval Committee is the internal governance structure that reviews and approves training applications submitted by public bodies for EPWP training funding. The Training Coordinator presents applications, supports the committee’s decision-making process, and ensures that approved training aligns with EPWP norms and standards. This committee function gives the Assistant Director direct exposure to senior programme governance at regional level.
