About the Role
The Multiskilled Operator supports site operations by operating a range of earthmoving and support equipment to improve safety, efficiency, and infrastructure integrity. The role involves excavation, loading, trenching, cleaning spillages, pipe connections, construction of deposition walls, and maintenance of access roads.
This position requires strict adherence to safety standards, SOPs, and equipment maintenance procedures, while contributing to smooth and productive mining operations.
Key Responsibilities
Earthmoving and Equipment Operation
The successful candidate will operate FEL, TLB, Excavator, ADT, Grader, and Water Truck as required to load materials, dig and clean trenches, maintain slimes dams, connect pipes, build deposition walls, and maintain access roads.
All operations must be conducted in line with approved Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and site requirements.
Safety, Inspections, and Compliance
The role requires conducting pre- and post-shift inspections, completing inspection checklists, and reporting all faults or issues to the Supervisor. Operators must inspect both the equipment and the work area before commencing operations and adhere strictly to all safety rules and regulations.
Equipment Maintenance and Housekeeping
The Multiskilled Operator is responsible for general housekeeping of assigned machines, ensuring equipment is kept clean and in good condition. This includes performing lubrication and refuelling as required and operating equipment in line with OEM specifications.
Operational Support
The role includes assisting maintenance personnel when required and contributing to overall site efficiency and safety. Operators must be able to work independently while coordinating effectively with supervisors and site teams.
Minimum Requirements
Candidates applying for this position must meet the following requirements:

Grade 12 (Matric)

Valid MQA-accredited Competency Certificates for FEL, TLB, Excavator, ADT, Grader, and Water Truck

Valid Code 10 Driver’s License
Experience and Professional Background
This role is suited to candidates with 2–3 years’ relevant experience operating earthmoving equipment in a mining or similar heavy industrial environment. Experience working on tailings facilities or construction-related mining operations will be advantageous.
