About the Role

Hyundai Automotive South Africa operates under a powerful global brand promise: Progress Starts with People. At the high-volume Hyundai Plumstead dealership in Cape Town, the Workshop Manager is a critical anchor point for this mission. You do not simply manage mechanics; you champion a unified team of “Hyundaians” dedicated to delivering exceptional, safe, and reliable automotive experiences for our valued clients.

This position acts as the core operational bridge between complex mechanical engineering, workshop staff management, and client service relations. You will take full responsibility for the end-to-end productivity of the workshop environment—developing and refining robust standard operating procedures, managing project scheduling, allocating valuable resource budgets, and ensuring every tool and diagnostic system functions at peak capability. It requires a leader who blends technical acumen with human-centric coaching to inspire collaboration, continuous improvement, and technical innovation on the workshop floor.

The ideal candidate brings a robust background in automotive workshop supervision or technical engineering management, a strong command of modern process improvement methodologies, and an unyielding commitment to occupational health and safety compliance. Joining Motus Corporation provides an associate-level manager with an expansive corporate network, access to cutting-edge diagnostic infrastructure, and a clear path for executive career development in the automotive industry.

Please note: Demonstrating a thorough knowledge of occupational health and safety regulations, along with a proven track record of managing technical teams, is a non-negotiable minimum requirement for this role.

Possession of a relevant trade qualification, a diploma in engineering or management, and direct experience implementing Lean Manufacturing principles or process improvement frameworks will be highly advantageous.

  • Ensure all tools, electronic diagnostic machinery, and heavy equipment are systematically maintained, calibrated, and kept in excellent working condition, coordinating immediate repairs when required.

  • Oversee quality management systems to ensure that every vehicle serviced meets Hyundai SA’s premium safety and mechanical standards before client hand-over.

Resource Allocation & Material Control

  • Maintain precise inventory control over workshop materials, replacement parts, lubricants, and essential supplies, executing timely reordering parameters to prevent stock shortages.

  • Familiarize yourself with and manage workshop budgeting parameters, minimizing material waste and optimizing resource allocation to protect the business unit’s profitability.

  • Liaise professionally with clients, service advisors, parts departments, and corporate management to provide transparent updates on vehicle progress and swiftly resolve technical issues.

Legal Requirements

  • South African citizenship or possession of a valid, permanent residency document.

  • Clean criminal record and a completely clear credit history (subject to pre-employment background screening).
