What Does a Tables Dealer Do at Golden Valley Casino?

Tables Dealers are the frontline of the casino gaming experience at Golden Valley. In this role, you will be responsible for facilitating the play of casino table games — including Blackjack, Poker, Punto Banco, Baccarat, and American Roulette — while providing exceptional service to every guest on the floor. You will manage all player transactions including bets and pay-outs, provide audible and precise game commentary, monitor guest play, maintain float accuracy, and ensure all dealing activities comply with gaming regulations and company standards.

This is a guest-facing, technically precise, compliance-driven gaming role that requires a Grade 12 certificate, demonstrated dealing competence from a Dealing School, strong numerical ability, and the ability to deliver warm, professional hospitality in every guest interaction.

Key Responsibilities of a Tables Dealer

Prepared Work Area

Check the gaming area, table, and float before every shift to ensure all is ready for play.
Check all operating equipment prior to the start of each shift — including shuffling machines, cards, and chips — to ensure everything is functioning correctly.
Check the cleanliness of your section or station and maintain the required standard throughout the shift.
Communicate and follow up on the correction of any equipment faults or defects promptly.

Game Play & Dealing

Deal all relevant table games as required by the business unit — including Blackjack, Poker, Punto Banco, Baccarat, American Roulette, and any other games as designated.
Handle all player transaction requirements including the placement of bets and paying out winnings — covering both cash and chip transactions accurately.
Provide audible and precise game commentary throughout play in accordance with gaming procedure.
Monitor and report on guest play and action in the Casino system when required.
Keep the inspector informed of all information relevant to the games and immediately escalate any suspicious betting patterns or suspected underage gambling.
Open and close tables in accordance with gaming procedures.
Execute dealer-to-dealer and dealer-to-inspector game handovers correctly.
Conduct cash-ups and reconcile the float at the end of every shift.
Substantiate and report on any float variances with full supporting documentation.
Secure and transport the float as required by operational procedures.

Customer Engagement

Connect with all guests by providing a warm welcome, greeting them with a friendly smile, and acknowledging them on arrival and departure.
Interact with guests and provide professional service standards and relevant solutions throughout play.
Identify customers and understand their preferences to enhance the gaming experience.
Educate customers on business unit facilities, products, and current promotions.
Handle any customer complaints, requests, and suggestions through to resolution, escalating where necessary.

Minimum Requirements – Tables Dealer

Educational Qualifications:

Grade 12 or equivalent national qualification in gaming operations — essential
Successful completion of a practical Dealing School — essential

Experience:

Previous experience in a customer-facing role — essential
Demonstrated competence in all dealing requirements — including the ability to deal Blackjack and Roulette — essential

Technical Skills:

English verbal communication skills
Strong numerical skills — ability to calculate large numbers quickly and accurately
Ability to deal table games including Roulette and Blackjack
