Contract Terms Notice: This position is offered as a Fixed-Term Contract within the Empact Group Food Solutions division.
About the Role
The Storeman plays a central role in managing stock administration, maintaining inventory precision, and controlling raw material supply for daily food service operations. Positioned at the core of the facility’s supply chain, you will oversee storerooms, walk-in fridges, and freezers while ensuring strict adherence to budget ratios and stock control procedures.
Working alongside the Project Manager, Assistant Catering Manager, and Catering Supervisors, the Storeman manages supplier deliveries, conducts rigorous quality checks on food products, and leads stocktake procedures. This role requires an organized individual who can work under pressure, delegate effectively, and enforce pristine storage and health standards across all areas.
Important Compliance Requirements: Candidates must have 2 years of relevant work experience, a completed Matric certificate, and a valid driver’s licence. The role requires weekend availability and the physical capacity to manage heavy goods, cold storage facilities, and stock distribution.

Stock Ordering & Receiving

Place orders and liaise directly with suppliers upon formal approval from the Project or Assistant Catering Manager.

Receive all incoming stock from suppliers and verify that every delivery is complete and in order.

Ensure that prices and quantities on order sheets concur exactly with delivered items and supplier invoices.

Inspect all incoming goods against quality parameters and data sheets, ensuring proper labeling.
Inventory Issuing & Control

Issue stock and groceries efficiently to external departments across the facility.

Weigh all raw food products accurately before issuing them to kitchen staff for daily production.

Implement strict stock control mechanisms within storerooms, fridges, and freezers.

Pack away all stock promptly after each mealtime service to maintain security and quality.
Budget & Stocktake Management

Manage store stock ratios strictly in line with budgeted minimum and maximum stock level thresholds.

Assist management in conducting accurate weekly and monthly stocktakes.

Maintain complete oversight of stock movement records to reduce shrinkage and operational loss.
Storage & Health Standard Oversight

Supervise store associates and oversee the daily maintenance of storerooms, fridges, and freezers.

Ensure all storage rooms, fridges, and freezers remain locked when unattended and strictly clean at all times.

Complete all Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) documentation correctly and timeously.

Execute regular quality checks across all stored food products to ensure statutory compliance.
Team Collaboration & Delegation

Work in close conjunction with Project Managers, Assistant Catering Managers, and Catering Supervisors.

Delegate tasks effectively to store associates while ensuring smooth daily workflow execution.

Educational Qualifications

Matric (Grade 12) qualification is required.
Experience

Minimum of 2 years of work experience in stock control, warehousing, or storekeeping roles.
