Position Overview

Job Title: Senior Quantity Surveyor
Location: Cape Town, Western Cape, South Africa
Employment Type: Permanent
Division: Engineering

Our client, a reputable construction contractor specializing in residential developments, is seeking a highly experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to lead cost management and commercial oversight of housing and apartment projects launching in Cape Town. This role provides the opportunity to manage multiple large-scale residential projects, mentor junior staff, and play a key part in delivering high-quality developments.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the full cost management lifecycle of residential and apartment projects, from tender to final account.

  • Manage multiple concurrent projects efficiently, ensuring budgets, timelines, and quality standards are met.

  • Prepare detailed commercial analyses, valuations, and cost forecasts for management and clients.

  • Mentor and manage junior quantity surveyors, providing guidance and professional development.

  • Monitor project expenditure and proactively manage financial risks.

  • Liaise with project managers, engineers, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure smooth project execution.

  • Maintain accurate documentation and ensure compliance with industry standards and contractual obligations.

  • Provide input for project planning, procurement strategies, and contractual decisions.


Requirements

Essential:

  • Tertiary qualification in B.Tech (Quantity Surveying), B.Sc (Quantity Surveying), or equivalent.

  • Minimum of 8–10 years’ experience in quantity surveying within construction.

  • Proven experience managing residential, housing, or apartment projects.

  • Expertise in CCS software (non-negotiable).

  • Strong experience managing the entire project lifecycle, including tendering, cost management, and final account.

  • Experience managing and mentoring junior QS staff.

  • Exceptional understanding of construction cost control and contract administration.

Desirable:

  • Exposure to multi-site residential developments.

  • Experience in fast-paced construction environments.

  • Strong stakeholder management and leadership skills.
