As a Senior Clerk within the Operations Support Insurance team, you will play a critical compliance and administrative role — ensuring that AVBOB’s representative register and regulatory obligations are accurately maintained in line with FSCA requirements. About the Role

AVBOB is looking for a self-reliant, detail-oriented individual with proven experience in insurance administration and a solid working knowledge of financial services legislation. Under the direction of the department head, the Senior Clerk will be primarily responsible for managing the FSCA central and representative register for all AVBOB representatives and key individuals, alongside a range of critical operational and compliance support functions.

Key Responsibilities – Senior Clerk (Operations Support Insurance)

FSCA Register Administration & Compliance

  • Coordinate the registration and deregistration of representatives and key individuals on the FSCA central register.
  • Ensure all key individuals continuously meet Fit and Proper regulatory requirements as prescribed by FAIS legislation.
  • Process, authenticate, and maintain accurate records relating to qualifications, Regulatory Examination (RE) outcomes, Class of Business (COB) status, and Continuing Professional Development (CPD) for all registered representatives.
  • Perform monthly reconciliations between the FSCA register and AVBOB’s internal system to ensure records are accurate, complete, and fully compliant at all times.

System Support & ICT Collaboration

  • Manage user enquiries and error notifications received from the sales team, ensuring timely resolution in line with departmental SLA requirements.
  • Identify, replicate, and troubleshoot system errors, and escalate unresolved issues to the ICT team with clear replication steps and supporting documentation.
  • Support ICT with User Acceptance Testing (UAT) by providing accurate test inputs and validating system functionality before go-live.
  • Provide support and guidance on enquiries related to the Coaching Application used by the sales team.

Productivity & Financial Reporting

  • Assess and interpret monthly productivity files to identify Financial Associates earning minimum wage and highlight non-productive individuals for corrective action.
  • Prepare comprehensive monthly debit reports, request acknowledgements of debt, review high-risk cases, and initiate required investigations.
  • Distribute coaching performance reports to the sales team, flag non-compliance with coaching requirements, and follow up on remedial actions taken.

General Administration

  • Provide broad administrative support to the Operations Support Insurance department as directed by the department head.
  • Maintain accurate filing systems, records management, and correspondence tracking.
  • Assist with coordination of departmental projects and cross-functional administrative tasks.

Minimum Requirements – AVBOB Senior Clerk

Educational Qualifications

  • Grade 12 certificate (Matric) is essential
  • Tertiary qualification is required (degree or diploma in Business Administration, Insurance, Finance, Compliance, or a related field)

Experience

  • 2 to 3 years of experience working within the financial services industry, with a focus on financial legislation and regulatory compliance
  • Proven track record of providing administrative support and coordinating projects in a structured office environment

Knowledge & Skills

  • Sound knowledge of FAIS legislation, FSCA regulatory requirements, and financial services compliance processes
  • Understanding of Fit and Proper requirements for representatives and key individuals
  • Familiarity with RE (Regulatory Examinations), COB (Class of Business), and CPD (Continuing Professional Development) frameworks
  • Strong administrative and organisational skills with high attention to detail
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) — advanced Excel skills are advantageous
