Working closely with cross-departmental warehouse teams, the Senior Cage Controller enforces strict stock safekeeping practices, adheres to health and safety regulations, and applies deep knowledge of JD Group / Pepkor operational policies to eliminate stock variances, product damage, and administrative discrepancies.

Inbound & Outbound Merchandise Verification

• Execute rigorous physical checks on all inbound and outbound merchandise for quality, damage, correct quantity, and exact specification alignment.

• Verify delivery notes, pick slips, transfer documents, and dispatch sheets to ensure strict documentation accuracy before authorizing stock movement.

• Identify, document, and escalate stock discrepancies, missing items, or damaged goods immediately to warehouse supervisors.

Cage Management & Inventory Safekeeping

• Maintain strict inventory control and secure safekeeping practices within designated high-value cage and Service Centre storage areas.

• Execute regular stock counts, audits, and reconciliation checks to safeguard merchandise against shrinkage, loss, or unauthorized access.

• Apply First-In, First-Out (FIFO) and designated bin allocation principles to optimize warehouse space and stock rotation.

Warehouse Safety & Regulatory Compliance

• Enforce and execute all activities in strict compliance with occupational health and safety policies, procedures, and hazard protocols.

• Maintain clean, organized, and hazard-free work areas within the cage and surrounding dispatch/receiving bays.

• Participate actively in safety inspections, reporting hazardous conditions or malfunctioning warehouse equipment promptly.

Cross-Functional Support & Teamwork

• Collaborate effectively with internal warehouse teams, drivers, and external logistics partners in a customer-centric manner.

• Demonstrate flexibility and multi-skilling capabilities to assist across various logistics departments as operational demands shift.

Systems & Process Alignment

Educational Qualifications

Experience

• Minimum of 1 year of practical warehousing experience, ideally within a fast-paced logistics, retail, or distribution center environment.
