About the Role
As a Security Checker at BUCO Brackenfell, your main responsibility is to prevent inventory loss, theft, and delivery errors at store exit points and yard gates.
You will inspect loaded customer vehicles, delivery trucks, and dispatch orders against invoices and delivery notes to ensure physical goods match paid transactions exactly. Additionally, you will oversee site access control, monitor security booms, maintain visitor registers, and report suspicious activities on the premises.
Key Performance Areas & Primary Responsibilities
Dispatch Verification & Loss Prevention

Inspect and count all goods, timber, hardware, and building materials leaving the retail shop and yard area.

Cross-check physical loads against sales invoices, delivery notes, and return slips to prevent incorrectly loaded or over-supplied stock.

Obtain required authorization signatures from credit customers upon order verification.

Verify payment receipts for cash customers before releasing merchandise.

Audit delivery trucks and bakkies to ensure proper load alignment and prevent accidental stock spillages or damage.
Access Control & Gatekeeping

Control security boom operations at the yard gate, regulating entry and exit traffic.

Ensure all visitors, contractors, and external transport drivers complete the official Visitors Book daily.

Perform routine vehicle checks on incoming and outgoing company, customer, and delivery vehicles.
Store Security & Professional Standards

Continuously monitor store and yard perimeter to prevent theft, unauthorized access, and inventory shrinkage.

Promptly report any suspicious behavior, safety breaches, or stock anomalies to store management.

Maintain excellent timekeeping, punctual attendance, and a neat, professional appearance at all times.

Educational Background

Grade 12 / Matric Certificate (Essential).
Work Experience & Technical Competencies

Minimum 1 year of relevant experience in security checking, dispatch auditing, gate access control, or loss prevention within a hardware, timber, or building merchant environment (Essential).

Familiarity with hardware, timber, and building supply product ranges to enable fast, accurate visual stock verification.
