As a Retail Shop Assistant at the Springs branch, you will serve as an integral part of the store’s daily sales and operational success. Your primary focus will be delivering outstanding customer service, assisting buyers with product selections, maintaining shelf merchandising standards, managing inventory counts, and ensuring a seamless shopping environment.
Key Performance Areas & Primary Responsibilities
1. Customer Service & Retail Sales

Deliver enthusiastic, high-quality customer care, greeting walk-in shoppers and addressing product inquiries.

Assist customers in selecting the appropriate tools, machinery, and consumables for their technical needs.

Proactively learn product specifications, safety guidelines, and application benefits to offer knowledgeable recommendations and drive store sales growth.
2. Merchandising & Store Visuals

Maintain store merchandising standards by ensuring product shelves are fully stocked, neatly organized, correctly priced, and visually appealing.

Assist in assembling and arranging promotional displays, end-cap exhibits, and seasonal product features to engage customers.

Keep counter areas, display racks, and store aisles clean, safe, and professional.
3. Stock Control & Inventory Management

Execute stock control routines, including receiving incoming shipments, unpacking stock, and verifying delivery slips.

Participate actively in routine stocktaking exercises and daily inventory audits to prevent stock discrepancies and losses.

Follow all standard operating procedures for branch inventory replenishment and shelf restocking.

Minimum Requirements – Retail Shop Assistant
Educational Qualifications & Experience

Education: Senior Certificate / Grade 12 / Matric (Essential).

Experience: Previous exposure to a retail sales environment with practical experience in merchandising, stocktaking, stock control, and general branch procedures (Preferred).

Technical Knowledge: Technical understanding or background in DIY tools, hardware, power equipment, or machinery (Highly Advantageous).
