About the Role

The Private Advisor Wealth plays a pivotal role in delivering personalized financial education, wealth creation, and overall asset protection strategies to FNB Private Wealth clients. Operating from Johannesburg, you will manage an allocated client portfolio, helping clients navigate contextual Money Management principles while expanding the bank’s Vertical Sales Index (VSI) and client retention rates.

This position demands an experienced advisor with a strong understanding of global financial markets, local and offshore fiduciary structures, and strict regulatory compliance standards.

Important Operational Requirements: Candidates must hold a Relevant NQF Level 7 Degree in Finance, Economics, or Accounting, a completed Regulatory Examination (RE5), and 3 to 5 years of client-facing experience within banking, investment, financial planning, or wealth management settings. A Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) designation is highly preferred.

Portfolio Management & Wealth Advisory

  • Deliver independent, holistic wealth advice to high-net-worth clients, emphasizing wealth accumulation, preservation, and protection tactics.

  • Provide tailored banking, investment, and financial planning solutions aligned with individual client goals and risk profiles.

  • Identify local and offshore fiduciary opportunities, providing guidance on tax-efficient structuring and client philanthropy.

  • Conduct regular formal client portfolio reviews to maintain entrenchment, increase the Vertical Sales Index (VSI), and drive retention.

Sales Performance & Cross-Group Collaboration

  • Identify key growth opportunities within your portfolio to achieve strict revenue, sales, and profit targets.

  • Build strong collaborative relationships across FNB functional lines and the broader FirstRand Group (FRG) to drive effective lead sharing and product cross-selling.

  • Proactively eliminate operational wastage and optimize administrative workflows to contain business costs.

Governance & Regulatory Compliance

  • Ensure strict adherence to legislative, audit, and internal process mandates across all advisory and transactional touchpoints.

  • Conduct advisory activities in alignment with the Bank’s risk frameworks to exercise sound commercial judgment at all times.

  • Undergo mandatory credit record checks in compliance with the National Credit Act (NCA).

Educational Qualifications

  • Minimum Requirement: Relevant NQF Level 7 Degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or financial management discipline.

  • Regulatory Certification: RE5 (Regulatory Examination 5) completed.

  • Preferred Qualification: Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) designation.

Experience & Industry Background

  • 3 to 5 years of experience in a client-facing environment across banking, investment management, financial planning, or wealth management.

  • Solid working knowledge of personal money management principles, global financial markets, and current economic affairs.

  • Proven track record in servicing an allocated client portfolio and acquiring new high-net-worth relationships.
