Purpose of the Role
The Operator delivers exceptional customer service by accurately loading all customer, delivery, and transfer vehicles using the Forklift or Front-End Loader — ensuring the yard runs efficiently with no stock losses and no dissatisfied customers, increasing repeat business and protecting Stonewood’s sales and profit margins.
Key Responsibilities – Operator
Loading & Yard Operations
- Load customer vehicles, delivery trucks, and transfer trucks promptly and accurately using the Forklift or Front-End Loader
- Ensure stock is properly stacked and counted during all loading activities
- Maintain operational vehicles in good condition — conducting pre-operation checks and reporting defects
- Ensure all operational procedures for operators are followed at all times
Customer Service & Product Knowledge
- Assist customers with excellent customer service and building material product knowledge — guiding customers on product identification, quantities, and loading requirements
- Handle pressure professionally — maintaining service quality during busy periods and high-volume loading activity
Housekeeping & Administration
- Upkeep of tidiness and cleanliness of the area — sweeping and ensuring good housekeeping of the yard and receiving department
- Report any problems and maintain the record book — accurately logging all operational issues and incidents
- Participate in perpetual stocktakes
Minimum Requirements – Operator
