Salary

Grade 1: R174 261 – R196 305 per annum
Grade 2: R203 271 – R227 286 per annum
Grade 3: R239 559 – R294 513 per annum

Salary placement will be determined according to years of appropriate and recognizable experience after registration with SANC as a Nursing Assistant.

Minimum Requirements

Qualification that allows registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Nursing Assistant.

Registration with SANC as a Nursing Assistant.

Experience Requirements:

Grade 1: No experience required.

Grade 2: A minimum of 10 years appropriate/recognizable nursing experience after registration with SANC as a Nursing Assistant.

Grade 3: A minimum of 20 years appropriate/recognizable nursing experience after registration with SANC as a Nursing Assistant.

Applicants must ensure that their SANC registration is valid at the time of application.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

The Nursing Assistant will assist patients with activities of daily living, including physical care and hygiene maintenance.

Maintain hygiene of patients.

Provide nutrition support to patients.

Assist patients with mobility.

Assist with elimination processes.

Provide elementary clinical nursing care, including measuring, interpreting, and recording vital signs.

Operate all relevant apparatus and equipment.

Assist professional nurses with clinical procedures, including administering oral medication.

Prepare patients for diagnostic and surgical procedures.

Maintain professional growth, ethical standards, and self-development in line with Public Service regulations and the Professional Body requirements.

Maintain the code of conduct as required in the Public Service and by the Professional Body.

Seek learning opportunities such as in-service training and relevant courses.

The Nursing Assistant plays a critical role in patient care and must ensure that all services are delivered with compassion, professionalism, and adherence to healthcare standards.

Work Environment

These posts are based within the Namakwa District at Joe Slovo and Leliefontein PHC facilities. The successful candidates will work within primary healthcare settings, providing direct patient support under the supervision of professional nurses.

The role requires physical stamina, attention to detail, and adherence to clinical and ethical standards.
