Position Overview
AFGRI Labworld invites two Laboratory Interns to join the team in Isando. This Work Integrated Learning (WIL) opportunity equips students with practical experience in chemical sample preparation, laboratory systems maintenance, and method validation activities.
Under the supervision of highly skilled laboratory professionals, the interns will gain exposure to essential lab practices, safety regulations, and quality standards aligned with laboratory accreditation requirements.
This role is ideal for Chemistry students who want to complete their WIL component while building a strong foundation in analytical laboratory operations.
Key Responsibilities

Prepare chemical solutions, standards, and reagents according to laboratory SOPs

Participate in the intake, recording, and handling of chemicals and consumables

Assist with maintaining chemical storage and usage systems

Support laboratory waste management processes

Conduct chemical preparation of samples for testing

Perform verification and validation of pipettes, glassware, and laboratory instruments

Assist with routine sample analysis under supervision

Ensure adherence to laboratory accreditation, quality control, and safety protocols
Minimum Requirements
-
Grade 12 (Matric)
-
Currently studying towards a National Diploma or Degree in Chemistry (or equivalent)

Must require Work Integrated Learning (WIL) to complete qualification

No prior working experience required (0–6 months experience in a laboratory is advantageous)

Must be a South African citizen

Must not be currently enrolled in, or have previously completed, an internship or graduate programme
