Empact Group Food Solutions is seeking a skilled and motivated Kitchen Supervisor to join its team on a contract basis in Margate, KwaZulu-Natal.
This role is ideal for individuals with culinary expertise and supervisory experience who can oversee kitchen production, maintain quality and consistency in menu items, and support inventory management. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring operational efficiency and excellent food service delivery.
About the Role
The Kitchen Supervisor is responsible for managing day-to-day kitchen operations, monitoring food quality, and supporting the catering manager with inventory and stock control. The role requires strong leadership, culinary knowledge, and the ability to work collaboratively with kitchen staff to maintain high standards of food preparation and service.
Key Responsibilities
Kitchen Operations and Food Production

Oversee smooth operation of kitchen production

Maintain consistency and quality across all menu items

Assist with basic food preparation according to menu cycles

Monitor portion control, preparation, and storage methods to avoid waste and manage costs

Record and minimise food wastage

Maintain and report temperature records as required
Inventory and Stock Management

Assist with monitoring inventory and communicate requirements to the catering manager

Participate in regular stock takes and maintain accurate records

Manage unit costs and ensure cost-effective food production

Ensure proper ordering and receiving of supplies
Team Management and Development

Support, train, coach, and develop kitchen staff

Supervise daily kitchen activities and delegate tasks effectively

Foster a positive and collaborative work environment

Assist colleagues in other food production areas as needed
Compliance and Administration

Ensure adherence to South African and industry-specific laws and regulations

Complete relevant paperwork including wastage sheets, cleaning records, and production documentation

Maintain hygiene and safety standards in the kitchen at all times
Minimum Requirements
-
Matric (Grade 12)

Relevant tertiary qualification in Food and Beverage Services or Culinary Arts

Minimum 2 years’ experience in kitchen supervision or progressive kitchen management

Minimum 2 years’ cooking experience

Computer literate, with experience in stock control, ordering, and receiving

Knowledge of WorkSmart systems is essential
