Technical Support and IT Infrastructure Role – IT Division
TWK Agri has a permanent opportunity available for an IT Technician within the IT Division at Nelspruit, Mpumalanga. This position falls under the IT Infrastructure business unit and is suited to candidates with associate-level experience in technical support and infrastructure maintenance.
The role is focused on providing comprehensive technical support across hardware, software, networks, and related IT systems. The successful candidate will be responsible for resolving technical issues, performing installations and maintenance, supporting users both on-site and remotely, and ensuring the security and reliability of IT infrastructure across the organisation.
This position is ideal for an experienced IT support professional who is technically competent, service-driven, and able to maintain high standards of system performance and user satisfaction.
Purpose of the Role
The IT Technician plays a critical role in maintaining stable, secure, and efficient IT operations within the organisation. The position ensures that all technical systems, hardware, and network infrastructure function optimally to support business operations.
The role requires a hands-on approach to troubleshooting, installations, and maintenance, while also providing responsive user support. Maintaining high system availability and security standards is central to this position.
Key Responsibilities
The IT Technician will diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and network operating system issues. This includes identifying faults, performing repairs, and implementing corrective solutions within agreed response times.
Installation, configuration, and maintenance of desktop and laptop hardware and software form part of the daily responsibilities. The candidate will ensure that devices are properly set up and maintained for optimal performance.
Troubleshooting and servicing printers and peripheral equipment is required. The technician must be able to identify hardware faults and restore functionality efficiently.
The role includes installing and configuring network infrastructure and related equipment. Basic network configuration and support are essential functions of the position.
Installation and configuration of camera solutions are also required, contributing to operational monitoring and security systems.
The IT Technician will provide on-site, telephonic, and remote technical support to users. Delivering timely and effective assistance is critical to maintaining user productivity.
Creating and managing network user accounts and access credentials is part of the security and administrative responsibilities.
Maintaining an accurate inventory of IT hardware, software, and technology resources is required to ensure proper asset management.
The technician must ensure systems are secured through antivirus installation and regular updates, maintaining a secure IT environment.
Researching and recommending suitable IT solutions, hardware, and software purchases forms part of the advisory responsibilities of the role.
Unresolved technical issues must be escalated to higher-level support within agreed response times to ensure service continuity.
Ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction through effective and professional support delivery is a core performance requirement.
Minimum Requirements
Matric / Grade 12 qualification is required.
CompTIA A+ Certification is required.
CompTIA N+ Certification is required.
Minimum of 2 years’ IT support experience is required.
Valid Code B Driver’s Licence is required.
Technical Skills and Competencies
Windows troubleshooting experience is essential.
Printer troubleshooting and maintenance skills are required.
Network installations and basic configuration experience are necessary.
Hardware and software diagnostic capabilities are essential.
Ability to maintain IT inventory records accurately is required.
Understanding of antivirus systems and IT security best practices is necessary.
