Sun International has two vacancies available for the position of HR Officer – Fixed Temporary Employment at Sun City Resort, Rustenburg, North West. This temporary opportunity is ideal for an experienced HR Administrator who is passionate about delivering seamless HR services and supporting employees and line management across the full employee lifecycle.

The HR Officer plays a critical role in providing transactional HR administration and general administrative support to members of the HR team. The position ensures consistent and compliant delivery of HR services in line with company procedures, audit standards, and legislative requirements.

Job Purpose

The HR Officer is responsible for providing structured and accurate HR administrative support across various human resources functions. This includes managing documentation, maintaining HR records, supporting payroll processes, coordinating compliance activities, and ensuring that employee-related data is captured accurately and in accordance with company policies and labour legislation.

The role requires attention to detail, strong organisational skills, and the ability to manage confidential information while maintaining service excellence within a dynamic hospitality environment.

Key Performance Areas

The HR Officer will act as the first point of contact for transactional HR-related queries from employees and line management.

Human resources records must be maintained accurately by recording new hires, transfers, terminations, job classification changes, merit increases, and leave tracking.

HR-related documentation such as contracts of employment must be prepared and administered throughout the employee lifecycle.

The HR database and system must be updated regularly to ensure data accuracy and audit compliance.

HR files and sensitive documentation must be identified, classified, maintained, and protected according to record handling and legislative requirements.

Payroll-related paperwork concerning staff movements and employment conditions must be prepared and submitted accurately.

Unemployment claims must be monitored, documented, and filed appropriately.

HR actions must be documented by completing required forms, logs, reports, and records.

Administrative coordination relating to discipline and grievance procedures must be managed in line with legislative requirements, ensuring proper record keeping.

Consumable stock for the HR department must be ordered and maintained in line with anticipated demand.

Departmental paper and electronic documentation must be coordinated effectively between business units, payroll, and HR files.

Basic reports such as headcount, absenteeism, leave liability, and sick leave reports must be prepared to support monthly financial reporting.

HR transaction processes and related data issues must be troubleshot and resolved in collaboration with HR Consultants, Learning & Development, Recruitment, and Payroll teams.

Correspondence including letters and formal documentation must be typed and prepared proficiently.

Daily HR office calls, queries, and requests must be handled and escalated where required, including matters relating to appointments, leave, benefits, medical aid, provident fund, and terminations.

The HR Officer will assist employees with completing necessary paperwork for changes and updates.

Bursary applications, medical aid, provident fund, and related programmes must be administered by advising employees on eligibility and assisting with documentation.

New employees must be oriented by providing information packets, reviewing company policies, and gathering payroll and benefit information.

Employee events such as EOM, roadshows, long service awards, and wellness programmes must be coordinated.

The Employee Wellness Programme must be supported, including coordination of wellness days and meeting minutes.

Kronos and Time & Attendance systems must be monitored.

Departmental invoices must be processed and paid via the IFS system.

Regular communication must be maintained with service providers regarding payments and vendor requirements.

Medical aid and provident fund communication must be managed for hires, terminations, and benefit matters.

Non-conformance issues and outstanding information must be escalated where necessary.

Education Requirements

Grade 12 is required.

Studying towards a B Degree in Human Resources Management or a similar qualification will be advantageous.

Experience Requirements

A minimum of 2 years’ experience in an administrative function is required.

Exposure to human resources administration will be advantageous.

Knowledge and application of labour legislation including the Labour Relations Act (LRA), Basic Conditions of Employment Act (BCEA), Skills Development Act, and Employment Equity Act.
