Warehouse and Production Opportunity with VKB Agri Processors

VKB Group is currently recruiting a General Worker for QPro Feeds (Pty) Ltd in Vrede, Free State. This permanent position falls under VKB Agri Processors (Pty) Ltd within the Production function and is suited to entry-level candidates with agricultural experience who are ready to contribute in a fast-paced warehouse environment.

The VKB Group is an established agricultural company supporting farmers and producing straight-from-the-farm foods for consumers. Represented through regional brands such as VKB, GWK and NTK, the organisation operates across the full agricultural value chain including processing, logistics, and national and global market channels.

QPro Feeds is a dynamic animal feed manufacturing business with facilities in Bethlehem and Vrede, producing animal feed for both in-house and external clients in the monogastric and ruminant sectors.

About the Role

The General Worker will be responsible for daily duties related to the movement and control of final warehouse stock and the administration associated with these processes.

This includes final product intake, picking, loading of vehicles, and stock control within the Warehouse department. The role focuses on maintaining efficiency and effectiveness while ensuring a safe and clean working environment.

The ideal candidate will be a strong team player who understands the importance of stock accuracy, product integrity, and operational discipline.

Key Responsibilities

The General Worker must ensure housekeeping is in order before the shift begins and again at the end of the shift.

Daily documentation required for operations must be printed and available as needed.

Handovers between shifts must be completed and clearly communicated to ensure operational continuity.

A daily stock count must be performed at the start of each morning shift before any processing begins.

When stock is received, the General Worker must verify the following:

• Product type, ensuring correct packaging matches the pallet label

• Quantity received

• Quality of bagging and integrity of slings

• Visibility of pallet barcodes on all products

• Expiry dates

Pallets must be moved into the warehouse storeroom and scanned into the applicable allocated bin using the pallet label.

The correct pallet number must be verified during picking according to the pallet barcode.

Picked pallets must be moved to the loading area and grouped per load.

Before loading vehicles, product integrity must be verified to ensure the correct product and quantity are loaded.

All quality checks on final product must be performed upon receiving, during storage, and during the loading process.

Daily control sheets and registers must be completed accurately according to the job function.

Minimum Requirements

Matric (Grade 12) is required.

A minimum of 2 years’ experience in an agricultural setting is required.

Candidates must be able to work shifts.

Willingness to work overtime to meet business requirements is essential.

Skills and Competencies

The successful candidate must be a team player who works effectively with others to meet operational goals.

Good communication skills are required to ensure effective handovers and coordination between shifts.

Professional attitude and appearance must be maintained at all times.

Attention to detail is critical, especially when verifying product type, quantity, quality, and expiry dates.

The candidate must demonstrate reliability and responsibility when performing stock counts and completing documentation.

The ability to follow instructions and adhere strictly to company procedures is essential.

Work Environment

This position is based at QPro Feeds in Vrede, Free State, within a warehouse and production environment.

The role requires physical activity related to moving pallets and handling final product stock.

Shift work is required, and overtime may be necessary to meet operational demands.

The environment requires strict adherence to quality control procedures and safety standards.
