Tsebo Solutions Group is seeking an experienced Engineering Manager: Mechanical to join Tsebo Facilities Solutions on a permanent basis in Rustenburg, North West. This senior-level role is responsible for overseeing the mechanical engineering function across multiple sites, delivering high-quality mechanical services while supporting integrated facilities management solutions.

About the Role

The Engineering Manager: Mechanical is responsible for planning, managing, and delivering mechanical engineering services across multiple facilities. The role ensures that all mechanical systems are maintained, upgraded, and operated safely, efficiently, and in compliance with statutory and organisational standards.

The position plays a key role in supporting integrated facilities management by providing technical leadership, engineering oversight, and operational support to internal teams, suppliers, and contractors.

Key Responsibilities

The Engineering Manager develops and implements mechanical preventative maintenance plans to ensure system reliability, safety, and longevity.

Mechanical systems are inspected regularly to identify risks, failures, or inefficiencies, with corrective actions implemented proactively to prevent downtime and operational disruption.

The role leads mechanical maintenance and repair teams across multiple sites, providing direction, technical guidance, and performance management.

The Engineering Manager oversees system upgrades, planned shutdowns, installations, and testing programmes, ensuring minimal operational impact and adherence to engineering standards.

Compliance with safety, health, hygiene, environmental, and engineering standards is a core responsibility of the role.

Mechanical assets, stock, and equipment history records are managed accurately, supporting asset lifecycle planning and reporting.

The role monitors system downtime, availability, operating costs, and performance metrics, using data to drive improvements and optimise efficiency.

Mechanical budgets, CAPEX planning, and project reporting are managed in line with organisational requirements.

The Engineering Manager engages internal teams, suppliers, and contractors to resolve technical issues and support operational delivery.

Clear communication of outages, maintenance plans, and operational impacts to stakeholders is essential to ensure alignment and business continuity.

Mechanical Engineering and Facilities Support

This role requires advanced technical knowledge across a wide range of mechanical systems, including HVAC, hydraulic systems, pumping systems, boreholes, pneumatic systems, pump stations, elevators, escalators, ducting, piping, and welded infrastructure.

The Engineering Manager provides technical leadership within integrated facilities management environments, ensuring that mechanical services align with operational, safety, and client requirements.

Skills and Competencies

The successful candidate will demonstrate strong mechanical engineering and maintenance expertise, combined with excellent planning, organising, and prioritising skills.

Strong problem-solving and decision-making ability is essential in managing complex systems and operational challenges.

Qualifications and Experience

A 4-year Mechanical Engineering Degree is required.
A minimum of 5 years’ practical engineering experience, with apprenticeship completed, is required.
Registration with ECSA is mandatory.
At least 5 years’ experience in mechanical engineering management is required.
Proven experience managing contractors and suppliers is essential.
Project management experience is required.
