What Does an Employer Audit Officer Do?

Employer Audit Officers monitor the implementation of UIA (Unemployment Insurance Act) and COIDA (Compensation for Occupational Injuries and Diseases Act) programmes, analyse systems, provide expert sector-specific advice, and support advocacy campaigns to ensure employer compliance with South Africa’s key labour legislation.

This is a compliance-driven, analytically focused government role that requires a relevant three-year tertiary qualification, one year of auditing experience, and thorough knowledge of South African labour legislation including COIDA, UIA, PFMA, BCEA, LRA, and the Skills Development Act.


Key Responsibilities of an Employer Audit Officer

UIA & COIDA Programme Monitoring

  • Perform and monitor the implementation of UIA and COIDA programmes across the Free State province.
  • Analyse the systems that provide expert advice on sector-specific UIA and COIDA matters.
  • Coordinate the process that monitors and evaluates the impact of UIA and COIDA programmes.

Advocacy & Compliance Support

  • Provide support in the implementation of Advocacy Campaigns on UI and COIDA legislation — both on a regular basis and when amendments occur.
  • Educate employers and stakeholders on their obligations under UIA and COIDA frameworks.

Minimum Requirements – Employer Audit Officer

Educational Qualifications:

  • Three-year tertiary qualification in Financial Accounting, BCOM Accounting, Accounting, BCOM Law, BCOM in Commerce, LLB, or Internal Auditing — essential

Experience:

  • Minimum 1 year of functional auditing experience — essential
