This role is based in Malelane, Mpumalanga, and offers an excellent opportunity for a qualified finance professional to play a key role in driving commercial insight, financial governance, and strategic decision-making.

This position is ideal for a CA(SA) or CIMA-qualified accountant with strong commercial acumen, advanced systems capability, and a passion for financial modelling and analytics within a complex manufacturing environment.


About the Role

The Commercial Accountant will serve as a key financial partner to the Molatek business unit, responsible for accurate financial reporting, cost management, budgeting, forecasting, and commercial performance analysis. The role requires close collaboration with operational teams to ensure a deep understanding of production activities and cost drivers, enabling proactive financial support and insight.

This position plays a critical role in ensuring financial discipline, supporting strategic initiatives, and delivering actionable insights to senior management through structured reporting and analysis.


Key Responsibilities

Financial Reporting and Month-End Management

The successful candidate will be primarily responsible for the timely and accurate financial reporting of the Molatek business unit. This includes month-end journals, reconciliations, SAP postings, and the preparation of standard month-end financial reports in line with company requirements.


Commercial and Operational Support

The role involves close engagement with operational teams to maintain a comprehensive understanding of business activities. The Commercial Accountant will provide an end-to-end commercial and financial management service, supporting informed decision-making across the operation.


Cost Management and Control

Responsibilities include managing costs through monthly cost review meetings with departmental managers, monitoring cost drivers, and ensuring effective cost control measures are implemented and maintained.


Budgeting, Forecasting, and Modelling

The Commercial Accountant is the primary custodian of the Molatek budget model and is responsible for compiling annual business plans, periodic forecasts, and long-term financial models. A strong interest in financial modelling is essential, particularly in support of SAP analytics and SAP S/4HANA-related projects.


Performance Analysis and Reporting

The role includes compiling monthly management reports, analysing deviations, and providing clear explanations of variances. Proactive business insight is delivered through weekly performance trackers, customer and product profitability reports, and ad-hoc commercial analysis.


Capital Expenditure and Governance

The Commercial Accountant manages the capital expenditure process, ensuring adherence to company policies and procedures. This includes evaluating capital proposals, tracking spend, and supporting governance and approval processes.


Stakeholder Support

The role provides ad-hoc financial and commercial support to Sales teams and Managing Executives, contributing to strategic initiatives and business performance improvement.


Minimum Requirements

To be considered for this role, candidates must meet the following requirements:

  • CA(SA) or CIMA Accounting qualification (essential)

  • Minimum of 5 years’ practical financial and commercial accounting experience

  • Advanced MS Excel skills

  • SAP experience (essential)

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy

  • Action-orientated, self-starter mindset

  • Good communication and stakeholder engagement skills

  • Strong interest in financial modelling and analytics

  • Exposure to SAP Analytics and SAP S/4HANA projects (advantageous)

  • Must be a South African citizen
