About the Role
Brights Hardware Richmond Park is looking for two motivated and service-oriented Cashiers to join their Frontline team on a permanent basis. As a Cashier, you will be the face of the branch at the point of sale — greeting customers warmly, processing cash and EFT transactions with precision, and ensuring that every interaction leaves a lasting positive impression. The role sits within the Finance functional area and demands a high level of numerical accuracy, vigilance, and professionalism at all times.

You will work as part of a collaborative Frontline team while also being capable of managing your till and responsibilities independently with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities
Point of Sale & Transaction Processing
- Ensure all sales are rung up accurately and efficiently on the cash registers in line with company procedure.
- Process EFT payments and handle all payment types according to established till protocols.
- Check cash received from customers and provide correct change promptly and without error.
- Issue gift cards, verify customers’ reward cards, and process the redemption of loyalty points.
- Follow the cash-up procedure precisely at the end of each shift.
Cash Handling & Security
- Perform daily cash ups in accordance with branch procedures and within required timeframes.
- Hand over cash drops to a superior for security purposes, in line with company cash management policy.
- Remain alert and aware of suspicious-looking customers or unusual behaviour at the till area.
- Maintain awareness of all promotional products on sale to ensure accurate pricing at the point of transaction.
Customer Service & Frontline Engagement
- Greet customers warmly and professionally as they enter the store to create a welcoming environment.
- Pack customers’ purchase items into shopping bags efficiently and with care.
- Deliver consistent, high-quality customer service that contributes to increased customer satisfaction and repeat business.
- Handle customer queries at the till with patience and professionalism, escalating where necessary.
Housekeeping & Stock Participation
- Maintain housekeeping standards at the till and work area, ensuring a clean, tidy, and safe environment at all times.
- Participate in perpetual stock takes as required by the branch, contributing to inventory accuracy.
- Stay informed about store layouts, product ranges, and promotions to assist customers effectively.
General Operational Duties
- Perform any other work-related tasks as reasonably delegated by a superior.
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures, including those relating to cash handling, Health & Safety, and customer conduct.

Educational Qualifications
- Matric (Grade 12) or equivalent qualification
Experience
- Minimum 1 year’s experience in a similar cashiering or retail customer service role

- Proficiency with point-of-sale (POS) cash register systems
- Competency in processing cash and EFT transactions
- Ability to issue and process gift cards and loyalty/reward programmes
