Position Overview

Takealot is seeking a Catalogue Assistant to join its Merchant Operations team on a 6-month contract in Cape Town. Reporting to the Catalogue Team Leader, the Catalogue Assistant will be responsible for ensuring product data accuracy, quality control, and timely updates to the online catalogue.

This role is ideal for someone highly organised, detail-oriented, and efficient, with strong Excel and administrative skills, who thrives in a fast-paced, high-pressure e-commerce environment.


Key Responsibilities

1. Catalogue Data Management

  • Upload product and merchant data using various systems (Dashboards or spreadsheets).

  • Review, update, and edit catalogue listings across Retail and Marketplace platforms.

  • Ensure compliance with Catalogue Product Information Requirements.

  • Identify data gaps, errors, or inconsistencies and resolve or escalate issues to the Team Leader.

2. Quality Assurance & Process Compliance

  • Perform quality checks on new and existing catalogue listings.

  • Maintain data integrity and accuracy across all product information.

  • Adhere to pre-determined turnaround times and manage individual workloads efficiently.

3. Team Collaboration & Communication

  • Collaborate with the Catalogue Team Leader and other team members to improve processes.

  • Communicate effectively to escalate issues or provide updates on task progress.

  • Contribute to a solutions-oriented, innovative, and high-performance team culture.


Minimum Requirements

  • Education: National Senior Certificate (Matric) required.

  • Experience: Minimum 2 years in administrative, operational, or data management roles.

  • Technical Skills: Strong Excel skills, including VLOOKUPs, and proficiency with digital platforms.

  • Other Requirements:

    • Fast learner, adaptable to change.

    • Highly organised and efficient with attention to detail.

    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

    • Solutions-oriented, proactive, and self-motivated.

    • Excellent team player.
