About the Role

As a Pharmacist Assistant Post Basic at Clicks Central Blue, you will perform day-to-day dispensary administration and provide essential pharmaceutical care services within your registered SAPC scope of practice.
Operating in a high-volume central pharmacy setting, your primary focus will be the precise capturing and administration of medical prescriptions, assisting patients with chronic medication authorizations, managing patient profiles, and resolving pharmaceutical queries. You will interact professionally with patients, medical aids, and healthcare practitioners via telephone and digital channels while upholding strict patient confidentiality and operational SOPs.

Key Performance Areas & Job Objectives

Prescription Capturing & Dispensary Administration
  • Accurately capture scripts and process medical aid claiming procedures at the Central Pharmacy centre.
  • Manage, update, and maintain patient medication profiles with high attention to detail.
  • Assist with chronic medication authorizations and follow up on pending approvals.
  • Execute day-to-day general dispensing duties in accordance with Clicks SOPs and legal guidelines.
Customer & Healthcare Liaison
  • Interact telephonically with patients regarding prescription medication, dosage instructions, and health services.
  • Liaise with doctors, nurses, and medical professionals to resolve prescription queries promptly.
  • Maintain professional ethics, strict patient confidentiality, and excellent customer service standards.
  • Collaborate seamlessly across internal pharmacy departments to ensure efficient workflow.

Minimum Requirements – Pharmacist Assistant QPB

Educational Background & Professional Registration
  • Further Education and Training Certificate: Pharmacist Assistance (Essential).
  • Valid, active registration with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC) as a Qualified Pharmacist Assistant Post Basic (Essential).
Work Experience & Knowledge
  • Minimum 1 year of experience working as a Pharmacist Assistant Post Basic (Essential).
  • Strong product knowledge across ethical and Over-The-Counter (OTC) medicine (Essential).
  • Solid understanding of the chronic medication authorization process and medical scheme procedures (Essential).
  • Knowledge of SAPC regulations, pharmacy legislation, and ethical working standards (Essential).
