About the Role
As the Security & Loss Prevention Manager for Dis-Chem in the Western Cape, you will lead the enterprise loss prevention strategy aimed at protecting corporate assets, reducing inventory shrink, and preventing internal and external fraud.
You will manage complex investigations into organized retail crime rings, analyze shrink trend patterns, oversee security technology implementation, and lead Security & Loss Prevention Officers across retail and distribution environments. Working collaboratively with Regional Security Managers, Finance, Supply Chain, and Law Enforcement, you will strengthen operational risk controls and ensure strict governance standards across all sites.

Key Responsibilities of a Security & Loss Prevention Manager
Strategy Execution & Shrink Analysis

Define and execute the loss prevention strategy aligned with corporate shrink reduction, fraud prevention, and operational risk objectives.

Analyze complex shrink patterns, stock losses, and inventory trend data to introduce targeted preventative controls.

Drive enterprise-wide risk mitigation initiatives across retail stores, distribution centers, and corporate facilities.
Investigations & Crime Mitigation

Oversee and conduct formal investigations into organized retail crime, internal theft syndicates, supply chain fraud, and stock discrepancies.

Maintain rigorous evidence management, case documentation, and incident tracking standards for potential legal prosecution.

Collaborate directly with law enforcement agencies, specialized investigators, and industry regulatory bodies.
Leadership & Operational Governance

Lead, mentor, and develop Security & Loss Prevention Officers operating across assigned territories.

Conduct comprehensive risk audits, inspections, and compliance reviews to evaluate the effectiveness of operational security controls.

Partner with Finance, Inventory, Retail Operations, and Supply Chain leaders to address root-cause operational vulnerabilities.

Roll out business-wide loss prevention awareness and training initiatives to promote compliance and security culture.
Minimum Requirements – Security & Loss Prevention Manager
Educational Background & Experience

Degree or Diploma in Security Management, Criminology, Risk Management, or a related field; OR 3 to 5 years of proven experience in loss prevention, investigations, or retail security roles (Essential).

Proven experience conducting formal investigations and managing operational risk initiatives (Essential).

Demonstrated experience in retail, supply chain, or distribution center security environments (Highly Preferred).
